In case anyone is looking, I thought I’d share that I bought a mask from Sweaty Bands. It seems pretty good. It fits well, it’s breathable and comfortable, and it’s made of wicking fabric. I have a couple of buffs, but they don’t stay in place (maybe because I have a small head). I think this will be more comfortable than a cotton mask when the weather gets warm. I saw Miami Fit is also selling masks. So is Athleta, but they’re not shipping for another month.

I made some simple masks out of an old race shirt (wicking fabric) but the small pleated ones get sucked into my nostrils when I’m breathing heavily (no thanks). So I’ve been using a bandana cut from the same material on runs... but that will get way too hot as the weather warms up.

I’m using a couple of buffs Ive gotten in trail races now and wow it got really hot all of a sudden. I had to order multiple for myself, and my 3 kids. I ordered theirs on Etsy but so many good ones were sold out I was really kicking myself for waiting so long.

Shipping was very fast - I got them within a week. They don't have a pocket for a filter, but they are lined so you cut the lining and stick a filter in if you'd like. The fit is a little loose on me - but with ear savers, they fit snug.

I also bought from Los Angeles Apparel. losangelesapparel.net/products/3-pack-cotton-mask Not wicking, but the straps make it easier to conform to your face - and it's not the behind the ears thing (which is really uncomfortable). They have a bendable nose piece, which is nice. No pocket.

I'm having trouble finding the "perfect" option. I was using a buff as well but it kept falling off my face. I suppose for running I'll start doing that again (I wasn't running for awhile due to injury) and just pulling it down when no one is around. I haven't been wearing anything when I run to be honest.

My athleta masks arrived already! First of all it’s a great deal-5 for $30. I did have to pay for shipping. They are so much more comfortable than the buff I’ve been using! Much cooler. The straps look much higher quality than handmade stuff bc they have clips to make it adjustable. I recommend.

Is it cotton or a more stretchy fabric?

My sweaty bands masks arrived and I do not like them at all. They suction into my nose when I’m just walking and breathing normally, there’s no way I could wear them while exercising. : (

Have you exercised in them? Do they keep clear of your nostrils (lol) when breathing heavy?

I think they are cotton and not stretchy material.but still way better than my buff! My friend said it was better than her handmade cotton mask for Etsy. Also they have bendy nose things.

No I haven’t exercised in them. When I run I just pull my buff up if I pass someone.
