New York’s governor signed an executive order Wednesday recognizing Juneteenth as a paid holiday for state employees to commemorate the emancipation of slaves in the U.S.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo said he will propose legislation next year making June 19 a permanent state holiday.
“It is a day we should all reflect upon. It is a day that is especially relevant in this moment in history,” Cuomo said.
Nightly protests still happening in Louisville KY for Breonna Taylor. Only one cop has been fired, no charges yet. Word is the cop has already bought a house in Cincy.
And last night LMPD in riot gear targeted live streamers (ie independent media) - arresting for rioting (which is a felony!), fleeing police, unlawful assembly, failure to disperse (isn't that the opposite of fleeing police?!). LMPD is out of control.

And did you see that shit that AG Cameron manages to find time to join a suit against the governor over reopening restrictions for businesses, but not to handle Breonna’s case?

I didn't, but that doesn't surprise me AT ALL.
Another independent journalist arrested last night. Police came out of nowhere and tackled her. Another reporter got it all on film.
One person has been killed and one hospitalized in serious condition, after a vehicle barreled past a police barrier and into protesters on a freeway overnight in Seattle.
24-year-old Summer Taylor died Saturday evening at Harborview Medical Center, according hospital spokeswoman Susan Gregg. Diaz Love, 32, remains in serious condition.
Washington State Patrol said Saturday that the driver of the white Jaguar sedan, a 27-year-old man, is in custody. At this point, officers have not offered a motive, though Capt. Ron Mead said officers believe the suspect was not impaired.
At a news conference early Saturday, Mead did not offer further details on how authorities believe the man bypassed a police closure to reach the victims. But he warned that the incident offers a stark lesson for protesters.
"My hope is, as a result of this tragedy, protesters will reconsider their desire to be on the interstate," he said, "because I cannot guarantee their safety, plain and simple."

The interstate entrances were blocked off. There was signage as far as TEN miles from downtown, on electronic billboards that generally give traffic warnings and conditions. I saw the signage myself when I was driving southbound on I-5 in Edmonds. The driver purposefully entered the interstate FROM AN EXIT (not an entrance) to the freeway and circumvented several cars that preceded the marchers. Summer Taylor was a 24 year old vet tech/assistant with a brilliant smile who should be alive today. Diaz Love is still in serious condition. I have not and will not watch the videos. I'm in a mood right now. Not from this in particular but this is icing on the cake of things that should not happen to good people and 2020 can go to hell.
there's a King Co. Sheriff's Deputy who's been posting on FB a meme of a vinyl window sticker of a car running over protesters with "All Lives Splatter" and a post regarding protesters catching COVID-19 from the hood of a car. Another friend posted a call-out to an acquaintance of hers that is a Sheriff that laughed at the posts. I'm shamed to say that this doesn't surprise me in the least.
A white woman who called police to claim a Black man was threatening her after he asked her to put her dog on a leash in New York City's Central Park is facing charges for false reporting, the Manhattan District Attorney's Office said Monday.
"Today our Office initiated a prosecution of Amy Cooper for Falsely Reporting an Incident in the Third Degree," Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance said in a statement.
He said his office will update the public as the case proceeds, and encouraged anyone who has been the "target of false reporting" to contact his office.
