Does anyone have a recommendation on cleaning faux wood blinds? I remember when I was young my mom would take mini-blinds(metal or plastic) down and wash them in the shower, can I do that with faux wood? Dusting them doesn't seem to cut it. We have them down right now anyway because our house is getting painted. I have a friend that used to pay someone a super cheap price like $5/blind to get them cleaned, but the lady doesn't do it anymore. I would do that in a heartbeat.
Also, what about oven cleaning? Our ovens are self-cleaning, but I've heard it's not the best to use. I've tried using oven cleaner and while it worked, it definitely didn't get all of the crap off of the doors. I've also tried baking soda on the door and it still doesn't look good. Can I use the oven cleaner & steel wool?
I feel like I'm making both of these more complicated then they need to be. I'm also extremely bored...

It’s okay to use the self-cleaning feature, but you may want to do it on a day when you can have all of the windows open.

I just cleaned my own oven for the first time in forever. It needed two rounds of the oven cleaner and I used Barkeepers Friend (the powder) on the glass to get the rest off. It worked.
I use the self cleaning feature on my oven but make sure all the windows are open and run the fan/extractor above your stove for the first 30 mins. I wouldn't use steel wool as it will scratch the glass and enamel. For the interior glass on the door, I use bar keeper's friend. it does a great job.
As for blinds, I don't have an effective method. I just use a damp sponge. See if you can remove the blinds one by one. Depending on how they are attached, you might be able to slide each one out and then clean more easily?
