Hey I figured yall don't really do intros but I've started getting into various crafts over the past several months (started before the pandemic, although all of the forced at home time has only increased my craftsy side).
I've been: *dyeing fabrics: mostly ice dyeing but I'm also interested in shibori styles. I'm mostly dyeing cloth diaper flats and prefolds, and my old white maternity tank tops right now to practice techniques. *sewing: cloth diapers, mama cloth, facemasks. I just sewed 2 nap mat covers for my toddler who starts daycare next week. *I'm interested in crocheting, and my H got me a cute Winnie the Pooh kit for Mother's Day, but I haven't crocheted since I was a child and then it was just a simple stitch (chain stitch?). I have some cheap yarn to practice with before I attempt to start my Pooh kit.
My mom's birthday is in September, and I'm planning to dye some fabric shibori-style with cobalt blue or navy, and make throw pillowcases for her boat (which they often live on for 2-3 weeks a couple times a year).
How old are your kids? We went through a summer of heliographic fabric painting and playsilk dying when they were little, they really loved it and they were both great summer activities.
Sewing and crochet are both fantastic skills to have- enjoy learning, and please don't be shy with pictures!
First ice dye project, after trying testers. On flour sack towels, and one wrapped on baby.
Ice dyed prefolds and stretchy flats, and one wrapped on baby. I did not anticipate how the absorbency would affect it, so there is a lot more white space than I wanted.
A gray shibori project. I love how these turned out.
Next 2 ice dye projects. I'm still not happy about the red and blue prefolds. Some weird folding/crumpling going on. The orange and blue was a risk as they're opposites but I'm pleased with how they turned out.
And E2's napmats. I blurred his name, but it was yellow fabric painted stamped on using stencils.
Those are amazing looking diapers. Love the shibori dyed fabric too. I was supposed to take a course but it was unfortunately cancelled. What are you planning on doing with the fabric?

Those are flat diapers too. I'm basically using them for practice, lol. I do have plans to make pillows for my mom,and to dye a white maxi dress I have.
Holy snap pooh8402! Do you have PUL or any other waterproof layer in there? I’ve been using Bumgenius diapers for DS, but was thinking of making pads and liners for myself.

No, those are hybrid fitteds, so there is a hidden layer of blizzard fleece. They're water resistant, rather than waterproof like PUL. But E2 can wear them for like 3-4 hours before they get damp on the outside. I've been scared to sew PUL, lol. But I've got some clips coming and when I get them, I'll get brave and try it. And yes, lots of snaps, haha. I got a mini table press to save my hand and wrist.
I have been making light pads and liners, and again, just the fleece for water resistance. I have some PUL cut out for the heavier pads but they're still in my to-do pile. Those aren't completed yet.
