After finishing The Lost City of the Monkey God (pretty dry) I zipped through The Husband's Secret and The Couple Next Door. Both were good and fluffy which is what I needed.
QOTW: Enjoy our new patio. Needless to say, we'll be staying local.
I finished The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern and The Glass Elevator by Roald Dahl, 3*. The kids and I really enjoyed the first part of The Glass Elevator, but then it fell flat when they flew back to Earth. I'm currently reading Know My Name by Chanel Miller and Escape From Mr. Lemoncello's Library with the kids.
QOTW: We are moving this summer. My daughter is also going to do an online math camp that she is excited about. I'm hoping to find something that my son is interested in so that he has something fun/ time consuming to do this summer too.
I’ve got so many books going right now. Still haven’t finished fly girls. Still listening to the Starless Sea, holy long book! Listening to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows as a family. Started Ten Thousand Doors of January because it finally came in as an e-book hold, but I have to do it on the larger tablet, because it’s not compatible with my newish paperwhite. Before I remembered that I had that book to read, I started the 7 1/2 deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle. Whew!
QOTW: you’re funny... My kids are already bored, it hasn’t been a full week. We have one thing planned, we made yurt camping reservations back in January for our annual trip with neighbors. Looks like the state parks will let us come. That’s at the end of July.
I read Eight Perfect Murders by Peter Swanson: 1.5 stars. It was pretty terrible. I loved the first book I read by him but everything else has been pretty bad.
I’m currently reading Because of Winn Dixie and The Ickabog with my kids. I have 2 ebooks from the library but I’m having a hard time reading any of them.
QOTW: we are staying local and planning to explore all the trails and lakes in our area. Not much else to do.
I finished Birding Without Borders, a travelogue/bird book. I had read the author’s Antarctica bird book a while back and really enjoyed it, and this was a lot of fun too. Now having trouble getting into anything, so I’m rereading Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow.
QOTW: Zero plans. Watch movies, take lots of walks.

Birding without Borders was one of my favorites last year! I'm not a birder but it made me interested in it, I learned a lot and it was just fun.
He also had a short youtube video of his travels and a TED talk.

I'm reading Court of Thorns and Roses. Honestly, it reads like Beauty and the Beast if Stephenie Meyer tried to reimagine it. Eh. And yet, I'm still reading it and will read the next one, too. Still waiting on the Witcher prequel to come in so I can read it and move on to Last Wish.
I finished The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix. His books are always a lot of fun and this one did not disappoint.
Last night I started Rodham. It's promising so far.
QOTW: We will probably visit my family's summer cottage in CT in July. My sister and her family plan to open it in a few weeks. Hoping we will get to see them and/or my dad but too soon to tell.
I finally finished On Fire: The (Burning) Case for a Green New Deal by Naomi Klein. And the kids and I just finished By the Shores of Silver Lake (Little House on the Prairie #5) by Laura Ingalls Wilder.
QOTW: No big summer plans, more of these random little things around the house. If (big if) we go anywhere at all this summer it will be to see our families. Book related, the kids and I will do our annual summer reading challenge, which starts next week. We will be able to get curbside books from the library soon, and I am looking forward to that.
This Is Big: How the Founder of Weight Watchers Changed the World — and Me by Marisa Meltzer (this was good but she slips in that she did coke and meth to keep her weight down for years starting at age 15 and then never addressed it again!!)
Perfect Tunes by Emily Gould
Girls of Brackenhill by Kate Moretti
Such a Perfect Wife by Kate White
A Body to Die For by Kate White
Til Death Do Us Part by Kate White
QOTW:
Staying at home. I’m sort of hoping we can go for an afternoon at this local beach we’ve visited a view times. It’s only open a couple days a month and we’ve never seen more than 10 people there at a time. But I really doubt it.
I'm reading the new Hunger Games prequel: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. It's interesting to see some of the development of the traditions of the Games that we learned about in the original trilogy.
I'm listening to Stephen King's The Outsider. I love that Holly Gibney appears (she was a major character in his Mr Mercedes series). Kind does tend to weave his books together by characters.
QOTW: we're not planning because who knows with COVID, but hope to have some opportunities to camp at least.
I DNF The Wives. It was just not good? I don't know, but the main character was annoying AF and I'm like "yeah I don't need to waste time."
Currently reading: The Two Lives of Lydia Bird. I thought her last book was ok, although kind of annoying in that 20 something genre. I've been having trouble getting into reading lately.
QOTW: just going to our beach house. No other plans because COVID. I know tourism is going to suffer, so the support we can give here and where our other house is, is better than nothing.
