I'm not sure how it started, but my kids both think that I'm the one responsible for "ending coronavirus" by beating games. I beat Super Mario Bros 1, and the next day, outdoor dining was announced. I beat Super Mario 3, and the next day, mall openings were announced. I'm not saying I ended it, but you never know..
Well.. there's a release circling around that Friday, there may be announcements about reopening salons and such.. so I have 1.5 days to beat Super Mario 2 so I don't let my kids down. I'm only two worlds in. I'm kind of hopeful that the announcement is that we haven't yet reached the stage of reopening salons.
Dear k3am, I think your kids are on to something. I loved Super Mario 2 the best. And for the record, I like making up names for the bad guys too. The birds with masks are called peckers (LOL).
k3am, We'd be doomed if that was our case. I did love Mario Kart, but was not good.
Dear Board,
Thank you for the raise!!! I thought this year would be iffy. You have a budget in flux due to the virus, but you also have a workforce that is busting their ass trying to contain it. It is a boost of morale to know we are appreciated and are getting compensated.
Signed, employee
Dear computer, internet,
You decide to act up on a virtal presentation. You are an ass.
Signed employee.
Dear company,
I am flying by the seat of my pants here. I hope my speech to your employees made them feel better and gave them information they need to stay safe.
Signed, employee who washed her face and body in Lysol wipes when she left.
Dear new doctor, My PCP faxed over my information a couple days ago and now it will take you two weeks to enter it into your system before you even call to schedule an appointment for me? You know it's 2020, right? How does it possibly take 2 weeks to do some data entry and call to book an appointment? I'd cut you some slack due to covid, but this is apparently your standard policy. "You're not in like, crippled excruciating pain, right?" is not the question I want the receptionist at my PCP to have to ask me to set this up. Signed, Not getting the warm and fuzzies as a new patient
Dear DD Can you please do something other than sit on the computer and read ebooks all day? Yes you are quiet and are letting me work in peace but I feel like you need to do something other than read for 6-8 hours a day. Mom
Dear Tax Season Will you ever end tired of March being on a loop Me
k3am, I suck at all video games so.. rere, congratulations on the raise!!!
Dear k3am, I think your kids are on to something. I loved Super Mario 2 the best. And for the record, I like making up names for the bad guys too. The birds with masks are called peckers (LOL).
Super Mario 2? The best?!? I’m going to need you to start playing because I hate it and and this rate, coronavirus will never end.
186momx, young me was content to sit on the computer and read real books all day. I turned out okay.. ish, I asumme. This is the year of kids not being "on" all the time. It will probably never happen again. (The things I keep telling myself over and over and over..)
+1 to having been perfectly happy to read all day. I remember being in the backseat of a rental car in Hawaii and my mom yelling, “For God’s sake, put your book down and LOOK AT WHERE WE ARE!” I was probably 7.
Your employer just announced an indefinite freeze on retirement benefits. No additions to your pension, no match to your 403b. You were only working to continue to build your retirement. Time to retire.
Love, Your favorite
Dear DH -
So we booked a family vacation for July back in January. A few days later, your brother invited himself and his family along, and booked a house a few doors down. Somewhere along the line, your mom ended up in our house staying with us for the week. I’ve rolled with all of it.
Now you’re telling me that the 3-hour deep sea fishing charter you wanted to book but that your brother took over is now a 12+ hour day with dinner and drinks over an hour away?? WTF happened to our family vacation???
I don't really care that she is reading all day. It is the huge attitude I get when I ask her to take a break. OR yesterday when I needed to use that office computer for 2 minutes the tantrum she did for me interrupting her for a few minutes. So she is grounded from the computer today and can read paper books or anything else she has lying around the office.
Dear DH Our friends invited us over for 4th of July and have said it will be a low key weekend of just hanging out. They are slowly opening their social distance circle but haven't jumped in. Meaning we probably won't go paddling because of the swarms of other people going. Could you just be happy that you get to go away for the weekend. Wife
When you schedule a meeting between the two of us that conflicts with a meeting I set two weeks ago for our entire group, it certainly is “your bad.” But omg I cannot believe a guy in his forties would send an email to their boss that says “whoops my bad” when I call that to his attention.
Your Laid Back Boss Who Isn’t That Laid Back
PS When we talk about needing to see better attention to detail from you, this is a lot of what we are talking about. Read your flipping calendar.

Dear WP, The last week has been stupid busy and I'm just now catching up since I took the day off. I'm now mad that I let my brother keep the Nintendo 64 and wonder if he still has it. Between k3am and seeing a post over the weekend from someone playing Mario Kart with a projector on the side of a house, video games sound super fun. Signed, erinshelley the Mario Party champion
Dear Self, Good for you taking a day off and just laying on the couch for most of it. You're not even sick! It has been YEARS since you spent hours on the couch without being sick or losing several hours of sleep. Now that the caffeine is kicking in you are feeling compelled to go pull weeds and continue cleaning the 1 million pieces of glass out of the front landscaping, the lounging is coming to an end and it is okay. You've taken enough time that I think you will feel much less burnt out for your half day tomorrow and then recharged on Monday. Signed, its going to be okay
erinshelley21 , the Nintendo is great. It is basically the only time that I'm *not* worried about something. I mean I'm worried about getting the stupid star to line up properly or about how to get past the ostriches giving piggy back rides to the bad guys I don't know what they're called, but.. I'm not worried about how school plays out next year.

Same. My parents made a rule that I couldn’t read in the car because I would ignore them. #yetanotherthingwrongwithboomers

my parents grounded me by taking away my books... My parents are not boomers though.
Dear WP Grounding DD from the internet yesterday was torture on me. She had 2 dozen paper books to choose from but no she need the damn ebooks. But so far today at home her attitude is a lot better. 186momx
k3am, I think I would cry. I know the big school district in town is offering complete online school but it is still 100% your choice to enroll in it. DD's pedi says she expects a hybrid method and reminded DD to always wear her mask in public. DD said she takes it off to do gymnastics and the doc said that was okay as it was for safety so she didn't get hurt.
