It's supposed to hit 75 degrees today which will be the warmest day of the year so far. I'm so excited that summer weather is right around the corner even though it's back to rain tomorrow. I'm bummed that DS is spending a couple extra days this weekend with his dad for Father's Day, but at least I get to spend it with beau.
Tomorrow we have ice cream sandwiches to pick up that I ordered as a fundraiser for an organization that supported me in high school. They usually sell them at our county fair so they organized this sale since the fair is cancelled. Beau said he would help me clean out my storage unit that I told myself I would have empty 9 months ago. I don't have much left in there and I hate paying $100 a month to store junk. It's probably stuff I should get rid of but I need to go through it first. Then we'll stop by his cousin's house to drop off a birthday card for his son's 16th birthday. These are the cousins we went motorcycle riding with last weekend. He's such a good kid so we'll throw some money in the card for gas or stuff for his motorcycle.
Sunday is supposed to be ok weather, so we may go riding and then to my parents for dinner. I'm super excited for Monday, since DS will be back with me for the week and I get my hair cut and colored for the first time since September!
Tomorrow morning the girls and I are meeting up with their BFF for an outdoor playdate for an hour or two. They are SO excited. Then they head off to their dad's for an overnight for Father's Day, so I'll be unexpectedly solo for most of the weekend.
I think I might actually bust out a sewing machine and work on a little project. I have a really cute paper pieced pattern that I want to try and I think it's a perfect project for some hand-dyed fabric I made and have been "saving" for something special. I've had to put my hand sewing on hold because of my joint pain and I'm itching to do something creative and just for me. It's also a good indoor, air conditioning project for the 90 degree weather we're expected to have.
DH doesn't know what he wants to do for Father's Day and he hasn't made any plans with his Dad yet. I would like to plan our weekend....the only thing he said is that he may want to paint our basement. They finished the drywall in two rooms this week. This means I have to pick a paint color pronto. It's supposed to rain all day tomorrow so I need to come up with something for the kids to do, esp if he's painting.
I'm looking forward to going home this afternoon and playing in the pool with the kiddos and grilling out in the backyard. It's been a long week advocating for myself and my team with our VP's and a more flexible work arrangements.
Tomorrow my parents are flying home after nearly four months here, so I’ll drive them to the airport. I know they’re looking forward to finally going home and seeing my sister and her kids, but I’m sad to see them go after we’ve gotten so used to having them here.
Sunday no real plans for Father’s Day - well try to give DH a break. Maybe the beach? I’m sure we’ll use the pool this weekend too.
Monday is the first day of YMCA day camp for the older kids! I’m so excited for them and for me And Tuesday our cleaning person comes back for the first time since early March. I can’t wait for that either. The poor woman has her work cut out for her, as much as I’ve tried to keep up. I’m paying her extra.
DH took the kids to MIL’s yesterday, so I am home alone until Monday. So far I’ve cleaned out my office, which had become a dumping ground for junk when construction started; the attic to sort and gather baby clothes for my sister; DD2’s room; our screened in porch, which became a classroom during distance learning and the kids had trashed; and the backyard - the kids kept doing projects out there and didn’t clean up, so I cleaned up in a way that will make them unhappy and perhaps will force them to think again before they leave all of their crap everywhere. I also went for a long walk yesterday and ended the day with 16k steps.
Now I think I’m going to clean DD1’s room, which is a huge undertaking and more daunting than any other project. I need to do some shopping at some point, maybe this evening.
DS had a doctor's appointment 2 hours away this morning, so it was early here. Today DD and a couple of friends are going to my aunts lake to swim. It has a slide and a dock and they love it. This is what she wanted to do for her birthday. Then pizza and ice cream cake.
Tomorrow is garden and yard work. I am hoping to get together with a couple of friends in their back yard. DH is working, I worked last weekend, so I would like to do something not kid or work related.
We are celebrating Father's day Monday, since he works Sunday. I am taking off at noon. He just needs to give me what he wants to eat so I can prepare.

sdlaura my girls start camp Monday too and we are all sooooo ready!
Early early tomorrow morning my girls and I will pick up my brother and drive to the most remote beach we know within reason. I’m hoping we will succeed in tourist evasion. Sunday it’s up to H but I expect I’ll make bbq and we’ll have a lazy family day.
DD had her well child visit this morning and her doctor listened so much better with a first thing in the AM appointment. She prescribed her a antibiotic cream to try and clear up her acne/rash around her nose that started back in mid March. If it doesn't help it in a month we are supposed to call in and she will fax a different antibiotic cream in or refer us to a dermatologist. Then DD and I went to Michaels and got her a bunch of projects to do and then did a little shopping at Freds. DD got a new pair of sandals. Rest of the weekend my plan is to spend at home. DH got a new phone for fathers day a couple weeks ago and I have no plans to do anything else. We kind of did father's day with my dad last weekend when we all got together for DD's b-day dinner.

Ds2 will be 4 on Sunday and is having a legit play date for the first time since Covid. He’s beyond excited. I can’t believe he will be 4. We are officially out of the toddler years!!
Also both boys are starting a live in person summer camp Monday. I can’t wait. But if I’m honest, I’m a little sad too.

We were going to have a play date on Sunday with DS' BFF but BFF's mom and I decided to cancel because she has been exposed in her workplace to a positive person who wasn't wearing a mask. I was already nervous because of the exponential increases that we're seeing in the community and even within our company so I'm a little relieved. I hope we can get back with her soon though.
I'm so glad we have a new mask ordinance in our county even though the implementation is completely ridiculous. But honestly we need something.
So now we're figuring out something fun. I don't know what but something.
mustardseed2007, DS had an eye doc appointment for Tuesday. It was cancelled because his doc’s husband was exposed and both are quarantined. I was just thankful they’re taking it seriously.
I am taking 3 kids (1 of my own) hiking this morning.. it’s probably 30+ mins of driving time to the trail.. hopefully we get at least an hour out of the hike. It’s questionable with 7 year olds... I had zero complaints out of DD last time we went to this trail, so fingers crossed for today.
No plans for the rest of the day.
Tomorrow we are going to a friends so DS can play, which hasn’t happened for him in a while - I don’t think he’s seen any of HIS friends that are his age since all this happened, so hopefully he loves it.
DH’s Father’s Day gift was delayed, but he is hosting the neighbors and smoking some kind of pork butt, which is probably a better gift. The man loves to smoke and feed himself and is willing to share with the rest of us as a byproduct.

Update: we got up at the crack of dawn, drove past all the well known beaches and through a short bit of marsh to a beach I had not been to in years. We successfully avoided all tourists and most locals. No one came within 30 feet of us, except the masked state park volunteer who said hello briefly. Socially distant beach day success.
