Even with the craziness everywhere this one struck me as particularly nutty.
Karen goes into Starbucks but won't wear a mask despite county requiring it and authorizing businesses to refuse service to those defying the order.
So of course she went online to post his pic and "call him out." She also managed to slippery slope argue that it's masks today and mandatory vaccinations tomorrow. Because of course she did.
Someone started a GFM for the barista that's nearly 22k now. Karen is taking to sue the creator of the fund for defamation and for her receiving death threats (my guess is she'd have received them for her own shit past, not the GFM.)
Hold up. A racist anti-vaxxer doesn't want to wear a mask? It's almost like resistance to mask wearing isn't about legitimate concerns and is instead a way of signaling that you're a right wing asshole.

While coming after his money makes this particularly gross, there are A LOT of entitled people out there and it seems like this has become a common scene across the country.
I really feel for these employees. I wouldn’t want to be the ones policing these angry assholes either (and that’s not even mentioning the racial dynamics when these roles are held by POC, which they disproportionately are.)
I still don’t get why we’re not giving the option of wearing face shields to people like this who want to claim a “medical exception” to masks when we all know her medical condition is unofficially not enough normal functioning brain cells.

My guess is that if she had walked into Starbucks with a plastic face shield, nobody would have questioned it, and she would have walked out with her coffee.

Yes but the narrative has been “mask, mask, mask.” At least that’s what it is here. Face shields are never brought up as an alternative by the officials who are telling us we have to wear masks so the argument by these Starbucks Karens is always “I am not wearing a MASK.”

Face shields count in my state (WA). I bet the do in most places but they would actually have to buy one and most people don’t like wearing them. It’s much easier to just complain.

Not to mention that I double Karen could even name a medical condition for which a mask would be dangerous.

I get your comment about the narrative but can’t get behind it. There’s personal accountability for all of us...if the Karen’s at Starbucks or Trader Joe had came in with a face guard I doubt there would have been any issue.

I’ve seen people talk about face shields, but they should absolutely be the alternative and not the rule. They provide some benefit but not as much as a mask. If given the option mask or shield then people might think shield is ok for everyone.
In addition, I guarantee the people who are anti-mask would also be anti-shield because it’s not just about a medical condition, it’s about someone telling them what to do. She would absolutely say it’s face shields so next they’re going to be forcing vaccines on people.
People who absolutely can’t wear masks will find alternatives and generally don’t act like assholes. Like I’m sure if she called ahead they would’ve found a way to serve her.

Probably because face shields are less effective, so they’re not recommended when masks are available. A coworker of mine has horrible claustrophobia. A mask or face shield would put her into a panic attack. It wouldn’t matter which one.

Exactly. My state is super strict on masking and you can still wear a damn bandana or face towel if that’s what you’ve got/works for you. The issue isn’t the word “mask” it’s that some people don’t want to be part of the solution of stemming the virus because they don’t like being “controlled” by the government and they don’t give a shit about other people.

True but I see about 25% of people wearing masks incorrectly as well, usually it's not covering their nose.
Yes, I understand Karen would complain no matter what because Karen feels she is above society.

I prefer to say, "it's not covering their face-dick."
Although to be fair, I see a decent number of people walking around that way on the sidewalk, and at least some of them fix it before they step inside or get close to others.

And a yoga instructor too. Maybe she should step up her meditation practice.
