Hi! Is there anyone who likes logic puzzles and wants to help me sort thru all this and figure out what to buy?
DD needs swimsuits.
- I prefer 2-pieces for her b/c it's easier at camp when she needs to go the bathroom.
- I do not want her in a binkini b/c I prefer as much skin covered as possible for sun exposure.
- She has one rashguard; it's a cropped/mid-riff length. She hated it in the pool the one day she wore it b/c it kept floating up. Would a full-length rashguard do that? I haven't seen DS have that problem. She's never had any other rashguard before so has no basis of comparison.
- She hates tops or full suits if the straps make an x across the back b/c she gets them all tangled up. But most suits seem to have this!
- She hates glittery fabric and sparkles.
So, what can I buy? I think my option is tankinis that don't have cross-over straps? This probably sounds easy to figure out but I'm feeling exhausted of her having problems with all her suits.
This one looks promising I think based on all the criteria?
I’d buy her a pair of bottoms and a short or long sleeve rash guard. My kids’ rash guards don’t ride up or bug them. She doesn’t need a bathing suit top if she has on a rash guard.
I’ve ordered clothes for my DD from them, but not swimwear. A friend of mine recently bought matching suits for her 5yo and 10mo DDs (both one piece suits; baby’s had a rash guard built in) and is very happy.
I got this one for my 11 year old who also hates pink, sparkles, unicorns, mermaids, bikinis... she likes it a lot. It seems to run a little on the slim side, which she needed because she’s the same size as my 8 year old.
I wear a rash guard and it floats up and is annoying sometimes. My girls stopped wearing them around that age and it wasn’t a battle I felt like I had to fight since at that point they didn’t fight sunscreen as much.
THANK YOU GUYS! This is awesome. I'm going to show her a bunch of these and we'll order tonight. Most of hers are handmedowns from her cousin so at least i didn't waste money on these that she hates.
Thanks also re the rashguard feedback. I wonder if it was because it was a croptop, but also like lemoncupcake and others said maybe it just wasn't fitted enough.

This is what my DD does. Although, last week I realized she’s reached the point where she does need a bathing suit top under the rash guard, because rash guards aren’t lined. But, she has never complained about it riding up.
My 7yo DD has a Speedo tankini from Target that’s a good fit. The straps cross in the back, but she’s able to get it on and off no problem, and she’s not super skilled at getting herself dressed regularly.
My DD (4) is really slim, and rash guards do float up on her. Always have. I'm starting to figure out which brands are cut roomier (iPlay, Lands End) and which are slimmer (Roxy), and I buy slimmer fitting brands.
For your criteria, how about something like this? Boyshort and racerback top tankini:

Thank you. She is very slim, so this may be the issue. DS isn’t and maybe that’s why his haven’t been an issue. I haven’t heard of Rocky but will google it. Is it a store or a brand sold at other stores? (Hope that makes sense.)
ohgillian , Roxy is a girls/womens surf brand. I bought DD's at Nordstrom Rack last year. This year she's getting a 2nd year out of it. She's 4, wears 4T clothes, and is wearing a size 4 girls.
You can see it's still roomy, but it's long enough (other brands aren't) and it's a lot less baggy than others. It stays put around her middle way better than the iPlay rash guard I have for DS, who is 1 and also very long and lean. It's always up around his middle, I feel like I have to put sunblock on his belly. DD's boy short bottoms are an inexpensive brand (Kanu) that I got on Amazon to coordinate.
