I plan on getting a spectra with my health insurance this time. I'm not sure which one they will cover so I'll assume whichever is cheaper between 1 and 2 (or should I pay for upgrade)
Are there any particular parts I should or could register for in advance
The S2 is fine. I have both and the S1 is nice but not a must have. The nenesupply extra parts on Amazon work great. I had a bunch so that I could run them through the dishwasher and they worked just like the original parts. We used Avent bottles which hook up to the pump parts directly.
I had an S1 while pumping for DS last year and having the built in battery was really nice. Mine was an $80 upcharge vs. the S2 which I could have gotten for free from insurance. It was worth $80 to me.
I’ll second the nenesupply items from Amazon. Duckbills, backflow protectors, wide mouth bottles and lids. Maybe a cooler that holds wide mouth bottles. (Or a nice water bottle/thermos if that’s how you choose to transport milk). If you’ll be pumping often I’d also suggest a couple wet dry bags.
Check with your insurance to see if they cover parts, as well. Mine paid for a new parts kit every 90 days, and I was able to sign up to have them sent to me automatically until I confirmed that I wasn't pumping anymore. I never ended up needing to pay OOP for anything pump related.
