I’m a little disappointed that no one had created a thread yet! It’s so good, I think this is going to be my new comfort-food tv option rather than The Office.
We're waiting until tomorrow night to watch. It's hard to wait, but I think we can hold out. 2 of the three people in my family have seen it on Broadway, but this will be the third person's first time seeing the full production. So exciting!! We'll probably order takeout to make it feel like dinner and a show.

I was half expecting the Disney+ servers.ro be overwhelmed with traffic from people watching Hamilton (plus regular use). Am pleasantly surprised! We are halfway into our first watch.
This is where I admit I haven't listened to the music or know much about the play :/ But I am excited to watch it this weekend.

@. No, I don’t think too young but I 1) have younger kids than that and 2) am not too strict on things like language. I think some of it will go over their heads

I was expecting the same but made it the whole way through without a single glitch.

@@ DS (6) has been hearing the songs for years and was watching with me until he grew antsy. There are words and references that aren’t appropriate, but they all go over his head. We joke that when he had play dates the common question was “Is it ok to listen to Hamilton?” 🤣

I took mine to see it in Chicago when they were 7 and 10. They know all the songs (there is profanity in the lyrics), and they aren't sheltered from "bad language" in movies/music. I used it as an opening to discuss language choices in different situations. They're not walking around telling our dog to "get the fuck back up," so I think they got it. The sexual innuendo in the lyrics goes right over their heads.
There are 3 "Fuck"s in the original, but according to Lin Manuel Miranda's twitter, he allowed for 2 of them to be bleeped/record scratched over for this to be able to keep it rated PG-13. But that means there is still one instance of them actually saying "fuck." The rest of the language is untouched. There's also one song ("Say no to this") that is pretty sensual on stage (clothes on, but still), and he confirmed that it's shown exactly as it is on stage. That was the only part that I held my breath a bit when my kids saw it.
All that said, we're totally watching it today or tomorrow. If you're worried, you could just watch it on your own first to see if it's something you're comfortable with.

I'm so excited! DS wanted to stay late at camp tonight, and he *really* didn't want us to watch without him so we're going to watch it tomorrow as a family. H and I saw it in Chicago, but DS has never seen it. DS is 8 and is excited to watch because we listen to it all the time.
My daughter and her H watched it at midnight. They couldn't wait. lol
They plan on watching it with the rest of their family today, and watching as many times as they can squeeze in. They've seen it twice on Broadway, but not with this cast.
We are watching it right now, (intermission), and plan to watch it more than once. We saw the touring show twice...at opposite ends of the their three week run here last year.
I'm going to my SIL's for a watch party (very small). It's been hard to not watch it all day. I saw it on Broadway with the second cast and had tickets for May for touring show here but it was obviously cancelled.
This is where I admit I haven't listened to the music or know much about the play :/ But I am excited to watch it this weekend.

@@@ I am watching it right now with my kids. My 10 yo and 7 yo are still totally into it. My 4 yo asked yo be done before intermission 🤣
So far my 10 yo has made faces at the kissing and been surprised at the “bad words” To which I said the same as always - people are going to say things in life that you shouldn’t repeat. Move on.

We took our kids to see it In chicago at 5 and 9. I had talked to them about the second scene and what having an affair meant but otherwise they did well.

I just watched it. It was amazing. I was thinking of getting the best tickets I can get for my 40th (April 2022 - please let Broadway be back by then, coronavirus), and watching it on TV didn’t make me feel like I should skip the live show. I know it’ll be a different cast but I don’t care.
I was planning on watching it "sometime" but made it to 3pm. I guess I can't play it as cool as I thought, lol. It is paused right now to get pizza dough started.
I saw it in Chicago but had nosebleed seats, so it's very cool to see the original cast and actually see facial expressions!
@@i've never been so glad we pay for the subscription for my niece and nephew so we have a login!

It was amazing and even though I’ll wind up watching it on Disney over 100 times, nothing will ever replace the thrill and excitement of sitting in the theater to see a live show. Actually seeing this made me want to see it live even more!!!!!! DH was like so now we don’t have break the bank to get tickets once Broadway reopens, right? I think my responding death glare scared him because he left the room. Lol.

We watched it this morning. I haven't seen it on stage, but my dad did and sent me the soundtrack. I loved listening to it and learned all the songs. But, seeing it was such a different experience. The emotion of the characters really got to me. I was teary through a good portion of it.

Thanks to whoever added @ to the title - I didn’t think it would go quite so deep there.
I’m glad that I was able to see it on stage first but there was still so much I picked up this time around. With the direction in film it focuses your attention on something, where live there are 49 things going on at once to look at.
I just listened to the NPR Pop Culture Happy Hour review and they did comment on LMMs crying. It was...a bit much.
But I was basically blown away by all of the cast. Chris Jackson especially for some reason - I don’t know that I had given him much thought besides general name recognition before.
We are doing a watch party tonight at 8. We will see how it goes. Hitting play at the same time as DD’s bestie and doing FaceTime so they can watch it together virtually. I have seen it live but am anxiously looking forward to it!
Seeing it live is definitely no comparison to the recorded version, especially if you are a fan of super loud live music lol. When you see it live, you feel the songs in your body. Battle of Yorktown live is probably the most amazing song I’ve ever seen on Broadway. I saw it both in NY and Baltimore and will (hopefully) see it again next summer as it is part of my season package. However, I thought that the recorded version was so well done. It is so hard to get a sense of the story from just the soundtrack, especially for example the part where it rewinds back in time. I watched with my 10 and 7 year old boys. I fast forwarded through “say no to this” and then just explained that he fell in love with someone else and he broke his wife’s heart (I had no desire to get into the definition of an affair). My DS1 has the uncanny ability to really hear and remember lyrics so I had to be a little careful with him.
