I'm writing this from my nearly empty office. This is the last day we're allowed in the building. Everything is boxed up and ready to move. A few offices have already been loaded onto moving carts. I spent the first 5 minutes (while my computer loaded) just staring at my view out the window and realizing I probably won't have a view of my favorite mountain and hiking trail from the new building. (Not that I can see the actual trail.. The landmark at the top of the trail is about 80 ft tall, and looking out my window, I can use that to figure out where it is.)
I also will not have a statue of a suicidal jumper outside my window. (I am.. honestly not sure what the statue is supposed to be? A parachuter with no parachute? Either way.. I only ever look down out my window when I'm having a bad day, so as far as I'm concerned.. suicidal.)
The restaurant re-opens today. I really hope it goes well. Based on social media, they should be fine and people will definitely show up. Beau has been struggling the last couple weeks with feeling useless not working and getting the run around on all the SBA loans. He has perked up so much now that they're getting the place back up and running again.
twinmomma, fingers crossed. I feel so bad for all the restraunts. The % that fail in a normal environment is already so high, and adding in this is just doubly hard.
What SBA loans is he having issues with? A lot of the guidance is still evolving and its.. really confusing. If you have specific questions about PPP specifically, PM and I'll see if anyone here has answers that may help. We are not participating in the Main Street program, and EIDL is straight through SBA, so I can't help there at all.
k3am , I'm honestly not sure which one he's dealing with. I think most of the issues stem from the fact that they were not open last year, so they have no prior tax documents or anything to submit. He keeps being told to submit paperwork that literally doesn't exist for them because they had just opened two weeks before the state shut everything down. I think he's just kind of screwed because of that. Thank you for the offer though! I will see what it is exactly.
We rented jet skis today. First time ever on them. We always had the kids up here with us before and I’m not confident with them on jet skis. My clumsy 9 year old would be way dramatic. . We are trying to do those activities that have been in our list for years and are easier without kids. I feel like I could just stay here this summer, but my job probably feels otherwise.
I followed up with our VP of HR two days ago on how the plans for flexibility and being able to WFH are coming since schools are releasing plans, we are spiking, and everyone is freaking out about why we're in the office. His response didn't give me the warm fuzzies.
We received an email today that our owner and VP may have been exposed and is on quarantine pending a test. If he's positive, he literally would've exposed most, if not the entire office.
My herniated disc from labor seems to have improved pretty well on its own. This week I’ve been able to start walking/light jogging a few miles at a time without pain.
I think I’ve narrowed down our private school choices to two 175-kid catholic schools. Both are 10-15 minutes away. One is a little less expensive and in a bit more convenient location, but we don’t know anyone personally who goes there. For the other one, we know 3 families who go there and love it, and the class sizes are smaller. We’re all going to visit both schools as a family next week and then we’ll start the application process.
I ruled out the independent schools based on cost and the larger catholic schools because I figure more staff/parents/kids = more potential virus cases/higher potential of shutting down because of it.
twinmomma, he might be SOL. At least for PPP. PPP is based on the average salary over the prior year and SBA is very.. "check the box" oriented. So if he can't provide payroll records the last 12 months or tax returns... I'm sure the SBA folks have no idea what the next step is.
DD has a pen pal with my BFF's daughter. It has been so cute watching them write notes and send stuff to each other. DD got the cutest story about crazy kitties from her this week. This is actually helping my DD write because it is giving her a reason to. Plus it is fun getting mail.
DD is having a baking day with my mom Saturday. I think I might actually go to a few store and shop while DD is busy. I need a new shower liner, kitchen towels, and the no show socks for ballet flats.
I just signed up ds2 for soccer this fall. He just turned 4 and will be sooooo excited when we tell him. This has been one thing Dh has been harping about but not doing anything about for years so it feels like an accomplishment.
I just received a pair of slip shorts I ordered from Amazon. Y’all have talked about slip shorts here before and I don’t know why I dragged my feet in getting some. They’re delightful!!

Thin, biker style shorts to wear under dresses to prevent chub rub.
