I need some pretty pictures to drown out all the frustrating parts right now. Show what you’ve got in the works, finished, ideas, something that caught your eye, your favorite project ever, worst mistake. Anything goes. Let’s talk about creating, and see some beautiful work, even if you aren’t working on anything right.now.
I laid these out a few weeks ago and then promptly forgot to refer to my picture as I started sewing shortly after. I’ve got nearly 3 rows together.
This is my first hexie project and I got the precut fabrics and papers from Etsy (kikiZcreation), and they are beautifully done. My problems here is that both whip stitching and flat back stitching are showing thread on the front. Anyone have any tips?

Is this english paper piecing? I literally just watched Tula Pink's 3 part series on youtube about English Paper Piecing and now I want to try it, even tho I'm not a quilter. I'd highly reccomend watching them, even if you don't take her advice/methods.
mala Yes, it’s EPP (English Paper Piecing). I’ve watched a few tutorials, I need to watch more. I usually machine sew, but it’s nice to have a portable project too.

I’ve made both these outfits from the same Roller Romper pattern. They were very quick and satisfying. DD also left me completely alone one day so I could sew them.
And here is DS’s completed baby quilt top. Hopefully I have it finished before he turns 1.

I like using a zipper stitch, it seems to stay pretty well hidden. But I am by no means an EPP expert. This is my first attempt at it: imgur.com/nP6GCRM imgur.com/o8UDmcL
one block wonder I finally finished up. Back shows the original Kaffe fish fabric
I don’t know how to embed the photos, can someone give me a quick lesson?
Holy crap those are lovely! When I get back on my desktop I'll type out how to do images for you. It's easy from imgur. Tho I find it best on a computer, not mobile.
I might have to try EPP soon, but I have no tiiiiiime.

I bought a new to me sewing/embroidery machine.
It’s a Brother Dream Creator VM5100, only used a year. I’m impatiently waiting on my new desk to get here so I can get it out and play. It’s 34” wide with the embroidery arm on and my sewing table my old machine sat on is 24”.
I could be sewing masks while I wait, but I don’t want to. I’ve been propagating basil cuttings in the meantime. I’m up to three in pots and three more in the water. I’ll start this in the early spring next time. We’re already two months from the first frost date.
Working on a quilt for my coworker who has cancer. 2 weeks behind because I got covid, dammit!
yesterday I was doing my best at “lettering” some messages from other coworkers on fabric squares. A lot of people wrote their own messages but those with health conditions are completely staying home and telecommuting.
attached is one pic of one square.
Update - inside panel created. Need to sew on double border and sew backing and get it to the quilter.
I finished my bag! It was hard to find the motivation because of time, depression, and the fact that my domestic machine can just barely manage this kind of thing, but I finished! It's not perfect, but I love it so, so much. I have plans to make at least one more with skulls and rainbow hardware. I might make another for a friend, too, we'll see. And I have some cactus fabric that's calling out to be this pattern, too, with the same tan faux suede as an accent.
rubiakt, I fail at follow-through. The easiest way to post pictures, I've found, is to put them on imgur.com. Upload them there, then open the picture. Click the "..." in the top right corner to open the menu, then select "get share links". On GBCN, open up the full reply menu, and at the bottom of the text box for your post, there's two options, you want to select on "BBCode mode" rather than "preview". Back in the imgur window, copy the link under "BBCode (Forums)". Come back to your post and ctrl+v to paste the code in. When you're done, switch to "preview" at the bottom of the text box and your pictures should show up.
Hi! I haven’t been here (crafts) in a long time, but pandemic being what it is, I have been starting new projects. I’ve done a bazillion masks, mostly for a local program donating them to disadvantaged folks in the community. But also, just starting some stuff for myself. It’s kinda craft, but I bought this cool solid oak (no veneer!) pedestal table I plan to paint.
I drive a bitty car, and we had to take it completely apart to get it home.
I decided starting with a full dining room table was too much, so I did this little end table. Working an hour or 2 a night for the past week. I’m only partially happy with it. I wanted to use the dark wax to highlight the legs, but it didn’t work like I wanted, so I ended up antiqueing and distressing it. I’m not a huge fan of distressed furniture, but it was so flat before I added the dark wax. And then, I felt it needed the edges distressed.
Hi! I actually took a photo of a FO! Felted bouncy balls (for two sweet little toddlers I live too far away from)- a full rainbow, of course. I put a project page up on Ravelry if you want details, they were a really fun project. I need to sew up some bags for them and ship them out before they grow out of the "I want to throw everything!" stage.
My sewing “nook” upstairs was a hot mess and disorganized. I have multiple tools like two bobbin winders because I couldn’t find one and was in a hurry and went and bought another, just as an example. Let's not get into cutting tools.
While all of the organization isn’t perfectly Pinterest-ready, the shelves are completely organized so that project fabrics and patterns and such are in soft zipper “box-bags” and random leftover fabrics are organized in white photo storage boxes. Some active projects are in the open colorful tubs, and what you see laying out and hanging from the dress form are parts of the quilt I am working on now. Top shelf items are sentimental things that are only meaningful to me, not to the whole family, so i have them in the space too (like my grandma's wig head wearing my deceased father's cowboy hat, and my childhood stuffed animals).
It took 2 days but it is such a comfortable and relaxing space now!
I think this is finished. Completed tonight. The pattern has outlining around the flower chain in the middle, I didn’t include it. What do you think? I enjoyed the straight stitch pattern of the backgrounds more than I expected too.

Holy crap. Thats a big cross stitch!
Google blackwork embroidery/crosstitch. Your welcome.
6 weeks later, I finished my dining room table! I finished it Labor Day weekend, and since that’s the unofficial end of summer, I consider that a summer accomplishment!
