mae0111, I'm sorry about your DD. But at least you caught it early.
mommyatty, maybe your co-worker leaving is a sign that your new job opportunity is the way to go?
We had DS's birthday party over the weekend and it went mostly smoothly. It was good to see that DS has real friends. I was so proud of how far he has come. He used to be this difficult, anti-social, totally non-empathatic person; and now he tries so hard. At one point he was getting visibly frustrated with the other kids' lack of cooperating in playing the water balloon fight exaclty the way HE wants it played, but then he just told everyone he has to go take a quick break and actually went back inside and set there and read for 20 minutes to calm down. A year ago he would have had a complete melt down.
My state (PA) doesn't use Phase 1 - 4. We use red, yellow, green. And I totally believe "green phase" is a misnomer. People think it means we can return to normal, but that's not the case. You still have to wear masks in public both indoors and outside (if you can't social distance) and large gatherings are still prohibited. The local grocery store chain and amusement parks are getting sued for enforcing mask orders. And since people can't follow the rules, the county executive shut down restaurants and bars again for 3 weeks. But it doesn't really help since people will go to the surrounding counties that don't have the order. We heard from our school superintendent who said the district is working on a plan to meet the governor's guidance plus contingency plans for outbreaks. They hope to have their plan ready to submit to the school board by next week. Then the board will vote on it by the end of the month. Then it can go to the state for approval. All we know at this time is that masks will be required when social distancing can't happen and school will start on Aug 27th. Our district is also asking that anybody who can ride their kids to school are strongly urged to do so since social distancing is impossible on buses. And I still have to work on my plan to provide lectures in 1 of 3 ways at any time: in-person, remote during scheduled class time, and remote recorded lectures that can be viewed at any time. The engineering school at the university is providing a ton of info/webinars to share some creative ideas. Now I just need to sit down with my co-instructor to figure it all out.
mae0111 , I'm so glad that you H agreed to counseling and that you are having positive conversations. That is definitely a step in the right direction! I'm also sorry to hear about your daughter contracting Lyme disease. From what little I know about it I have always heard that the sooner it is caught the better the prognosis (recovery, lack of negative long term effects, etc.), so I'm glad you caught it early. I know the standard treatment is typically between 4-6 weeks, so I'm hoping you see results soon after she starts taking the antibiotics!
