I read When Time Stopped: A Memoir of my Father's War and What Remains by Ariana Neumann. I highly recommend it!
Now I'm reading These Ghosts are Family by Maisy Card. This is another great read. I'll probably finish it up later today.
QOTW: Ditto travella. If it's not a walk or hike outside then I'm on the elliptical to release those endorphins. I also find that escaping into a book helps.
I finished Chosen Ones by Veronica Roth. I know she is popular but I hadn't actually read anything else by this author. This book went in a different direction than I expected but I really enjoyed it.
Now I am reading China Rich Girlfriend. I'm not sure that I would say it was good exactly but I needed something really light. It's been a long week.
QOTW: I was reading outside every evening but now it is too hot to do so. I am hoping to redo our yard to create a nice spot with shade but doing the work sounds annoying.

I'm almost done reading Between The World and Me. It's a hard book to read, at least for me. Next up is Camino Winds. And I'm reading Accidental Saints with my church.
I need some kind of stress relief. I walk the dog every night and that probably helps, but I feel really stressed right now. And drinking of course, lol.
I have sort of started two: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and Her Last Flight by Beatriz Williams. Neither has hooked me so far, but to be fair I haven’t given either much time.
QOTW: I normally walk, but right now it’s so hot and I’m just tired of walking. I’ve seen every street in my neighborhood a hundred billion times already. I’ve been enjoying playing old Wii sports games.
I started the Second Empress by Michelle Moran and downloaded the audio of Bury your Dead by Louise Penny. I’ve had a bit of an off week on getting into the books.
QOTW: exercise and deep breathing help. I also spent some time in my yard/garden weeding by myself and that was perfect at that point.
Since I last checked in I read Flight by Olga Tokarczuk, Greta Thunberg’s No One Is Too Small to Make A Difference (a short and repetitive collection of her speeches), and we finished These Happy Golden Years (Little House #8) by Laura Ingalls Wilder. I have about four other books open right now, so am all over the place.
QOTW: Exercise is key for me to feel even keeled. Reading of course. I’ve been a little more serious about gardening this year. We are a very far cry from any form of self sufficiency, but I still love being able to eat my own food. And just today I started a paint kit which will take me awhile, but I am really liking so far. paintplot.com/products/ten-peaks-kit?_pos=3&_sid=3aa6daeb4&_ss=r
I finished The Kiss Quotient and Beach Read. I didn’t realize The Kiss Quotient was a steamy read, so that was a surprise. Both were enjoyable light reads.
QOTW: My stress relief is swimming in our pool in the summer.

I recently read The Fountains of Silence. This was such a great book, I couldn't put it down. Very moving and an eye opener about what happened in Spain under General Franco in the 1950s. 5*
Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson. I recently watched the movie and then had to read the book. Besides the story of Walter McMillian it also talks about lots of other cases he has worked on in his long career including his plight to get children to not be sentenced to life without parole or tried as an adult and to get relief for people with mental disabilities. 5*
For a lighter read, I recently read all six books in the Seven Sisters series by Lucinda Riley. The premise is a bit odd but the back stories of where these sisters came from is interesting. 3.5*
