Update: so we’re thinking checkerboard, probably 8x8 laid on a diagonal (I need to find the right tiles). I do like the brick though I think what’s tipping the scales is the look in the bathroom and the fact that it won’t be an exact match of our house brick. Coming into the mud room from the patio (that part of the house is brick outside), I fear it would look bad to have slightly mismatched brick. I like both though - thank you all for the feedback!!
I’m leaning towards the brick, dh likes the checkerboard. Both are porcelain tile. Would be in our mudroom and go into our 1st floor bath (has stand up shower). Tile guy thought brick would look off in the bathroom. Red/orange toned brick is similar to the brick on the exterior of our white and brick house. I do love classic black and white floors look though - thinking a 6x6 tile for those
now I may be leaning checkboard? I do love thishttps://www.chrislovesjulia.com/all-the-details-about-the-stone-checkerboard-floors-in-the-dining-room-theyre-finished/ ]
What if you did the red/orange brick in the mudroom but used the white brick in the bathroom?
I personally don't love checkerboard but also don't think I love the idea of the traditional brick on a bathroom floor either.
I think we wanted a uniform look. But We could select more neutral colors for the bathroom since the is a mix. Definitely an option for tempering the brick look in the bathroom
I like the brick. It's really pretty and different. Would it just be used for the floor of the bathroom? I might change my answer if it also went up the walls at all or into the shower stall.

Just the floors. We’d probably do a wood vanity and either neutral tile or green tone for the shower.

A pale green would look lovely with the brick tile!

I love the brick for the mudroom, but I'm having a really hard time picturing it in a bathroom. I'm not really a fan of the checkerboard at all, and unless it's a large bathroom, I'm not sure it would like right. Clearly, I am no help and I'm not even sure why I answered LOL What about doing the brick in the mudroom and then a white subway tile on the floor in the bathroom, maybe even one with texture. It would be the same style as the brick and would look more cohesive, but wouldn't be brick in a bathroom.
