These are the chairs that I currently have in my dining room. The gold chair is just an extra and mostly lives in the corner of the room unless we need additional seating. I have 6 of the Lyre Back chairs. I just picked up these two arm chairs that I plan on putting at either end of the table. I'm debating painting them. If I were to paint them, what color? My decor is mostly gold and teal with some pops of orange. I have a mix of wood tones, so if you tell me to leave as it, I'm sure that will look fine too. If you need pictures of the rest of the room and my un-style, let me know.
ETA: Wanted to add, the Lyre Back chairs are about 70 years old and the new cane bottom chairs are Victorian, so I might feel bad painting 120+ y/o chairs. They are Walnut and really in great condition.
Personally, I would definitely NOT paint those nice old chairs! I think someday we will regret painting and distressing all this beautiful old wood, as has been a trend lately.
This is the room. I’m standing in the LR and the kitchen is to the left. The kitchen is currently painted SW Tidewater, the foyer/hall is Requesite Grey and the LR/DR area is going to be painted Opaline. We’re also replacing the carpets soon and my entire main floor will be getting something like what is pictured below.

@sameoldstory, so after seeing your space and your plan I think you should keep the chairs as is. They are in great condition and they will work nicely in that space. If you are just looking for color, I would bring it in through vibrant artwork.Nice space!
