We haven’t heard from our district yet but I’m assuming / hoping that masks will be required in the fall. I need to order some ASAP so we have enough to last a week.
I had heard that old navy masks were great so I was planning on just buying those. I just read reviews though and most people are saying they are too small and don’t fit older kids. I have an 8 yr old Who is pretty small so they’d probably be fine for her. I’m not sure about my almost 11 yr old though. Any experience with the ON masks? Where else have you bought good comfortable ones?
The Target 2/$4 ones are my family’s favorite. There are only a few color choices in the kid sizes though. I think they have some cat and jack ones too.

We really like the old navy ones. The target ones were way too big for my kiddo, but did shrink a bit with a hot wash and hot dry. She’s a 2nd grader, big for her age (big melon like her mom) for reference.
Old navy for us. The target kids masks fit me well but are too big for the kiddos. Old navy masks come in many colors and are 5 for $12. I’ve purchased 15 of them so far (my kids go to camp and my younger loses things a lot)

Masks we like (copied from a note in my phone because I kept passing this on to friends ) my daughter is 6 1/2 and my son is 10 1/2. She is average to tall building for her age. He is tall and broad built for his age. Little kid masks don’t fit him but adults are still too big.
Gaiters are only effective with two layers of fabric. These have a pocket for a filter, so she wears that pocket over her mouth as it has the extra layer of fabric

isabel my mom bought my DD (she’s 7) a set of the ones you linked. They’re perfect. She opened them and thought they would be way too small, but they’re comfortably snug and the adjustable straps are good.
Our favorites so far have come from ToughCookieClothing on Etsy. Very soft, can put a filter in the pocket of wanted, adjustable ear strings and nicely shaped. My son prefers these over the Target ones because of the material. They also ship very quickly.

Oh, thank you! I'm going to complete my purchase now!
We have some homemade from my mom and some from athleta. I would figure out what style he likes first, then decide on what brand. E and I prefer the ones with adjustable ear loops and the stoppers to adjust. E prefers the pleated kind, but she likes the athleta ones because the fabric is lighter.
Rafi Nova was another one I looked at besides Athleta for a performance style fabric. They have some more gender neutral prints.
I'm now deciding if we should make some mask lanyards. I found one on etsy that was cute, but they were also selling MAGA shirts, so NOPE to that. I may just order the supplies and make it a craft day for her and I to make some.
Has anyone found anything similar/comparable to the ones from primary? Those are by far the best fitting for my 4 yo - both in tightness in face and straps. But now they are out of stock.

I messaged them last week and they said they expected to have a restock this weekend. I didn’t see that they ended up doing it. They’re very responsive to private messages on Instagram, so try sending them a note. I really like those too, but DS1 can’t get them over his head as easily as the ear ones and he needs to be able to do that at school. I might get more for DS2 though, depending on daycare’s mask policy.
We got the target ones. They fit him fine but he's 9.5. We don't really leave the house much and if we do it's for curbside pick up, so those have been fine. I'm a little worried they might not be thick enough from school but DS doesn't go back for another month and I honestly don't see it happening so I haven't exactly jumped on finding an alternative.
I was just coming on to ask this question, thanks for posting! My problem is I have an 11 year old who seems to be in between kids sizes and adult sizes. Has anyone found anything for this age group??

My daughter is 11, and she likes the target ones. I feel they run big, so I washed and dried ours and now they fit great.

We got a bunch from Hanna Andersson when they were on sale and they fit okay. They're on the small side, but work for my kids. The colors are more on the pinks/yellows, and are random, so if your kids have issues with colors, I'd go with ones you can be sure they like.
I'll be looking at Target later for them when I go this week so they have more variety.
I like the ones we got from Gap Factory online. I got a 3 pack of child size for DS and a 3 pack for me. It looks like they also have family packs where you can get both child and adult sizes.

If you have a pattern or instructions for the lanyard, can you post it? I want to make some for DD1 too. I had trouble finding masks that fit her so I ended up sewing my own.

I am making and selling masks, all custom made to order. The 10-12 age range is tricky because you don’t want the nose to chin height of an adults but need more length so it fits around the ears. The pattern I use says 3-6yo, 7-12yo, and 12-adult small. I tend to use the middle size and then lengthen it so it fits the 10-12 year olds better.

A local teenager is making some that are just wide ribbon with small Velcro circles on the ends so each end of the ribbon will wrap around an ear loop and Velcro to itself. noodleoo
Also the women’s target ones with knots in the ears work for my 11 yr old, but the kids ones work great for the almost 8 yr old. We also bought some local and have buffs that the kids are planning to keep around their necks if they get tired of wearing the other masks around their ears. My kids used them in camp and switching out was nice for them. I don’t know if we are going back, but I did just order some more target ones since the store is out.

I just got an email that they have masks in stock again.
