We are changing all of our door hardware to oil rubbed bronze (we haven't started yet, I could be convinced to do brushed nickel instead, but they all need to be changed out when we replace the doors - right now we have some damaged doors and cheap gold knobs) because my husband liked the way they look.
We are renovating downstairs and I need to buy some ceiling fixtures. For the upstairs hallway I got some fixtures with bronze details and our curtain rods are bronze. Does that mean I should get bronze ceiling fixtures downstairs too (no curtain rods because we have shades)? What about the ceiling fixtures in the bedrooms upstairs (I already have bronze curtain rods)?
Edit - when we do renovate the bathrooms, I will be doing nickel or chrome for faucets and showers. I do not like bronze faucets, etc.
Yeah there is no particular consistency in my house at all, and I picked everything out brand new last year so it is exactly how I want it to be. I tend to see if things work within a room, but even then I’m not too picky if the pieces aren’t big (like cabinet pulls) or aren’t in the same line of sight.

Update: I decided to use the same light in the office that we put in the hall and at the top of the stairs - they are in a row. I originally got it for a landing near the kitchen, but we will buy all the kitchen fixtures (including the landing) when we re-do the kitchen. So, yay! "Free" light and it ties the upstairs and downstairs together.
My builder things I’m nuts I’m having him put chrome door handles on the inside of the bathrooms and matte black on the outside to match the other rooms. I am saying this because I think you’re the normal one and I’m weird.
