I really enjoyed it when I was reading it, but felt the ending introduced plot holes that because they were trying for a shocking ending weren’t able to be addressed.
I thought it was a good read. Soon after I read it, I read A Girl of the Limberlost by Gene Stratton Porter (published in 1909). My great grandma gifted it to me in the '90's. I had read it as a child but 30 years later it was new to me again.
To my point, the similarities in the two books were a lot. I've since googled and there are several articles that reference the 2 books together as a "if you read this, you'll also like this." I just thought it was more than that.
Yeah, I felt like they summed up too much of her life at the end without enough details like it was an after thought. Like, "oh, by the way this also happened"

I had figured that she killed him through the poems...it surprised me that she was the poet. I don't know why, that element surprised me.
