You guys helped me make some decisions about the built ins that we are refurbishing for our office, so I wanted to share some updates. For reference, this is what they looked like in the Marketplace listing.
My husband added extra wood to make the top deeper, replaced the glass shelves with oak ones, and added doors to the cabinets. He also had to add pieces to the sides, because our wall is about 6” wider than the unit. And we are adding trim under the arches, just because.
Here’s where we are now. We will be adding crown at the top and painting all the trim in the room to match.
Eventually we’ll get a rolling ladder. 😍
Now I’m trying to decide on door hardware. I thought the black was cool, but it doesn’t come any bigger than what is in the picture. My husband loves the wooden one, but I wasn’t sure until I saw the shelves in, and now it seems right. What do you all think?
That looks fantastic, great job! I'm so jealous of people with DIY skills.
I think either handle would work. I like the uniqueness of the black one but could see myself potentially getting annoyed by having to lift and pull on a little tab to open the door (I think that's how it works?).
Great job! Up close I prefer the black handle, but from further away you can tell that's it's just too small, so for that reason, I'd go with the wood.
