I painted our guest/kids bathroom yesterday and the blue is much brighter than I thought in a small space (our bedroom is a similar shade but doesn’t seem nearly as bright). In your experiences, is it better to just repaint or should I try to mellow it out with accessories?
If you know it's not right, I'd go ahead and repaint while you've got all the painting stuff out. If it's close to right, 1 coat may even be adequate coverage.
I painted my folks 2 story stairwell w/beige years ago. It looked too yellow. My mom and I literally went to Home Depot at 7pm that night and found new paint and I repainted, again, a *2 story* stairwell. Still looks great ~20 yrs later.
I pretty much always hate paint colors before I'm done, like when the edging is done but the rolling isn't. But once it's done and dry, my opinion tends to be my opinion. A wrong choice doesn't usually grow on me. So if you know it's wrong, I'd just repaint and try again before you move all the stuff back into the space. That prep is half the battle with painting anyway.
Probably repaint. Live with it until the weekend and see if your opinion changes.
I had two bathrooms to paint and tried all my test swatches in both. What we painted downstairs that shows as a nice, serene green looked like a damned circus in our hall bath. Paint is weird like that.
I feel you. I painted a total of 4 coats on our back guest bedroom. I was going for a really really pale pink (and the sample looked white in brighter light!) and after the first coat was too dark, thought it just needed a second coat. After the second coat, I took off all of the tape and stuff while the paint was wet so it wouldn't pull paint off. But once it dried it was obvious it was always going to be too bright. So I gave up on that whole idea, re-taped and then did two coats of navy. I love it so much now. I would have hated trying to live with the pink.

Brutal!!
I went and got a new paint today. I guess I would have been bored without a project 🤷🏻♀️
