What kind of pain do I want for a bedroom and living area? I used Emerald in my hallway and kitchen because they are high touch areas. Am I okay to use Duration in bedrooms and other living areas or am I just better off using Emerald everywhere? And also, what sheen would you suggest for those areas?
I use Duration in matte everywhere. Bedrooms don't take as much abuse as halls, etc., but I still want to be able to wipe them (especially the kids' rooms). Matte Duration has also been fine in bathrooms.
I have only splurged for Emerald when I was painting while pregnant, because it has lower (no?) VOCs. AFAIK that's the biggest advantage of Emerald vs. Duration.
ETA: Wait, no, I think I also used Emerald for the ceiling paint (only) in our bathroom after it was renovated. The walls are Duration but I think Emerald might have more antimicrobial properties. Prior to the reno we'd been having mold problems specifically on the ceiling so I was sensitive to that.
Bottom line though, Duration is great for living rooms/bedrooms.
Thanks! I think we're actually going to go with the Emerald afterall because our friend is a painter and doing the room for us and getting us the paint at his cost, so it'll only be $40/gallon for the Emerald.
