memenee , it's brick tile and the rest of the house looks much more Victorian/Edwardian, so it doesn't "fit" with the rest of the house. But it was here when we arrived and I honestly love how it looks, so we kept it. The exterior of our house is brick (as are most London houses, even if people do plaster over them). It's not unusual for people to use brick tiles in England even if it's the only place with brick. I'd say, ignore Houzz and go with it if you love it.
mrsukyankee thanks so much for taking the time to respond and for sharing more pics of your lovely home.
I do think some of the Houzz people are over the top but I’m wondering if they are right. So I guess my question now to everyone is - would the gorgeous brick tile that mrsukyankee has look ok in my 1920s colonial kitchen if my house is NOT brick?
I would use something similar on a small back wall or as a backsplash.

I think it can look great depending on the cabinets and other stuff in it. I would be careful about using it behind a stovetop as it's tough to clean it (we have a taller upstand due to this).
If you look up colonial kitchen with brick wall, you can see tons of pics of people using brick. I would also think about what colour brick slips you'd want to use - that may have an impact. Ours is a mix of lighter brick colours with some darker. You can get very light, really bright and dark ones (at least in England) - the choice may look different in different spaces.
What a beautiful transformation! Who knew dishwashers had that feature!
I know! When it was pointed out to me in the kitchen place, I thought it was genius. Being able to know how long it will take (forever) and what cycle it is in is very useful.
I am blow away by this. That's one thing that drives me nuts about our dishwasher. If I didn't start it myself, I have no clue where it is in the cycle. I showed this to DH last night and now we are hoping for a reason to replace our dishwasher, lol.
I love love love the exposed brick wall. I had exposed brick in my very first manhattan apartment a million years ago and I still think about it.
Question- do you have a brick exterior? Is there brick anywhere? I ask this because we are renovating our kitchen next month. We live in a 1920s house and I thought some brick in the kitchen would look nice. Maybe on the back wall as an ‘accent’ wall or maybe brick tile as a backsplash. I don’t know. But I posed the question on Houzz and was lambasted at the horror of putting brick up if my house isn’t brick. I had never thought about it. What do you guys say?
Edited for typos
Can I just say, those people on Houzz are JERKS. A few in particular. I have a brick Cape Cod. There is an attached family room, and one wall of that room probably has the original brick exterior house wall underneath the paneling. I mentioned that maybe I should try to expose the brick but if it didn't look good to do the brick slips, and one weirdo chased me all around the boards mocking me for it. They seriously need to get a life.

Hahaha. Lol. Yes some of them are totally bonkers and quite rude as well. So many times I see people post their outdated kitchens and say they don’t really have the money now but want to “spruce it up” a bit. PEOPLE - the poster JUST said they don’t have a lot of money right now and inevitably people will post the nastiest comments “gut the whole thing”. “Do yourself a favor and burn it”. So mean! Why I even post there I have no idea

Oh, yeah, when I was redoing my kitchen people were like, "It's never going to be livable, just wait until you can expand it." They all seem to be in McMansions out in the boonies. When I said there were no new build houses in my area they were like ? how
