I read Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero (horror). It’s just not my genre.
I also read Untamed by Glennon Doyle. I wasn’t too aware of her going in and thought it might be like Eat, Pray, Love (which I did not like) since she is such good friends with Elizabeth Gilbert. There’s definitely a lot going on in the book, but I really enjoyed it and would recommend it.
QOTW: I’d rather be able to fly than be invisible. I often have dreams that I can swim across the tops of rooms through air and it seems so cool, haha.
minzy the "Readers Also Liked" books for Meddling Kids are all by one of my favorite authors. I will have to check it out because it definitely sounds right up my alley. I will probably save it for next month though since I am always looking for good horror books going in to Halloween.
I read Happy & You Know It. It was a fast, decent read but nothing too deep or memorable.
Now I’m reading Mexican Gothic. I really like it so far but haven’t been able to read as much the past few days. Hopefully that will change over the long weekend.
QOTW: Neither? Sometimes I feel like I already have the power of invisibility and I think I’d be afraid to fly unless I had a ride like a magic carpet.
I’m almost done with Rodham by Curtis Sittenfeld. This is the third of her books I’ve read and I always feel like I only sort of enjoy them but find them very readable. They suck me in even though I don’t actually like them all that much. Up next is All the Devils Are Here by Louise Penny, which I’m very excited to start.
Qotw: definitely fly — that has always been my most desired superpower.
I'm about to finish The Heir Affair by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan (the GoFugYourself blog girls); it's the second one they've done as a fictionalized story about the British royal family. The first one was much better; this is too long! For a "spoof" it's 900 pages on my Kindle app. I'll probably end up giving it 2.5 stars.
QOTW: Fly. I assume that means I could take myself places that I currently can't go during the pandemic.

Spoilers:
I didn’t love the repeated attempts to make a physical lesbian relationship happen when one character said it wasn’t for her. And the fixation with the red curly hair, almost as if it were its own character. I rolled my eyes with the line about how horror writers don’t get laid. And the spooky stuff that was so ridiculously farfetched.

I’m glad you liked the Mike Birbiglia book! I’ve seen him perform his show The New One. I heard the book kind of expands on it. He’s so funny and a great storyteller.

I finished The Glass Hotel. The first few chapters were slow, but it eventually got going. I dislike books in which none of the characters are worth rooting for. This was one of those books.
charlatti , I find Sittenfeld readable, but not enjoyable. She suffers from the problem I mentioned above (the main characters are often insufferable white women), and something bothers me about how she writes POC characters.
I finished The Light in Hidden Places by Sharon Cameron, 5*. I had read a glowing review for this book months ago and finally got around to reading it. For a YA book I felt this was well written.
I'm currently reading From Scratch by Tembi Locke and with my son I'm reading George's Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dahl.
QOTW: Invisibility, but only if I had the power to turn it off and on. I'm scared of falling from heights so I don't think I could handle flying.

I had a really slow reading week thanks to virtual school starting. I finished Oona Out of Order. When I first started it, I was skeptical but I ended up really enjoying it.
I'm currently reading You Should See Me in a Crown and I just can't get into it. I think I'm not really in a YA mood right now. Or maybe I'm just not in the mood to read with all the stress of figuring out school.
QOTW: my first thought is invisibility because I'm super nosy and I would love to be a fly on a wall for stuff.
I also am getting too technical about the flying thing. How fast could I fly? If airplane speed, what would I need to protect myself from bugs and birds and stuff? Or would I have to fly super high to avoid them? If so, would I need oxygen? Would there be other effects to being at a high altitude?
