Dear WPs, My kids get to start the strings program this week at school. A violin and a cello are about to descend on my house. Pray for me. Signed, Buying stock in ear plugs
I attempted to do crow pose for the first time today. The lesson came with an email in advance that suggested perhaps having a pillow, just in case, and I didn't really get it. Well.. I had lift off for about 0.5 seconds on a few different attempts. And I had a several attempts that ended up with me eating it pretty spectacularly. I got a good laugh out of it (several times) and am actually impressed with how quickly I was able to get my body to extend and land laid out vs. face first.
My DD1 is a very talented pianist, and actually had a tremendous ear for music. Her 3-month attempt at violin was... something. As a former violinist who picks it up now and then, I can't think of a lot of instruments that sound worse than the string family when learning.
k3am,I have had thoughts of the crow pose and have seen it in class. However, I do not bring a pillow, and do not want to bite it on the gym floor.
Dear work,
I am pretty close to being out. And boss who told me someone said I was snippy. Damn straight. And I know who it is. That particular HR secretary can fly back to where she came from on her broomstick.
Signed, not even trying to be pleasant at this point.
rere that’s the beauty of home workouts. The downside is not having someone there to provide feedback or corrections. Which is why it’s recorded... so funny to watch though.
Definitely not as flat on the fall as I thought. 😬
I know you want to go to the Fancy School. It’s an awesome school. I went there when it was decidedly Less Fancy and other private schools made fun of our lack of fanciness. But it now costs more than 5 times what it did when I went there. And that’s a lot of cash.
Dad and I are willing to make the investment if you show us that you can (and will) put in the effort it will take to get there. Dashing out a writing assignment in less than 5 minutes, totally sloppy and thrown together, is not “putting in the effort”. Asking you to spend more time does not warrant screaming at me.
So we are done fighting. You won’t go to that school. We are actually leaning toward pulling you from your current school this point and sending you back to our district school, where no one hunts you down for your assignments. They’ve been in school for a week and no assignments at all! Awesome!!!!
You will float by at your own pace, and you’ll likely be fine. But I’m gearing up for a visit to your therapist in 20 years so we can talk about how we sent your sister to Fancy School, but not you.
Love, Mom who REALLY wants you to get it, but is tired of explaining, fighting, begging, and pleading for some effort.
You’ve been doing a great job so far. I’m fairly nervous about the upcoming tournament because it seems like an unnecessary risk. But FFS, this drill where they have to race while holding hands?? WTAF??? No touching!!!

Dear WPs,
I am now pinging coworkers whose kids are in school in person to get an idea of what our county looks like in person. “Hey! Yeah we can take that research request. BTW. School...?”
My kindergartener is an emotional mess.
Though evidently my 3rd grader is a candidate to settle Mars with how she deals with social isolation.
librarychica my friends and I have observed a huge difference in how virtual learning has gone for our kindergartners/first graders vs second and third graders. Not that it’s easy for most kids - but by second/third grade most kids can at least read and write, follow some simple instructions, and have some basics when it comes to math. Never mind way more social/emotional skills. Not so with the younger ones!
twinmomma , Our school sent home recorders for the kids. Music hasn't started yet. DD is already playing around with it. I'm dying
My best friend’s H gifted my youngest a harmonica.
The neighbor gifted both kids harmonicas for Christmas. We realized that DS had smuggled one into the car about 5 minutes into a 4.5 hour drive to my mom's... I.. still haven't forgiven her for it.

Dear retirement seminar, Thank you for being available to me long before retirement. I feel good about where I am for funding my retirement. But you also scared the crap out of me for all of the forms I need to update, trust/will/living will needs and things I should know about divorce. Signed, I have homework
Dear Thursday I took today off for a mental health day and it has been anything but relaxing or about me. Listening zoom and the teacher discuss empahthy and respect or playing this or that game drove me bonkers. Then DD realized she left her charger at the office and her computer was almost dead after a 2 hour class. So ended up going to work anyways. Now it is after 3 and I'm just annoyed and frazzled Cranky Me
I just attended an annual luncheon for an organization I’m involved with, and the platform they used was super cool. You could ‘table hop’ and go virtually join different tables to network after the keynote speaker. It was fun to pop in and say hi to DH’s old boss from 15+ years ago (a really great woman). If any of you are looking to do a virtual luncheon or gala or something, look up the platform - it’s called Remo.
Signed, I would be sitting in hours of LA traffic right now in a normal year
