Started yesterday! I'm not sure how long it will take but our contractor is building a house after this and he's eager to crank ours out (so maybe 6 weeks?)
One guy hand hammered out this concrete and dug these footings! TLRD on the project, we're extending our sideloading garage ~8 ft towards the road (~300 sq ft extension), and putting a mudroom and full bath and second floor closet in the ~8ft width where the garage attached to the house (~300 sq ft new finished space). We also added the back patio to the scope of work. I'll be sure to post before/after pics when it's done! I may be back for advice!
Below is the tile we selected (going to checkerboard the top two - 8" tiles). Still not sure if we'll carry the checkboard into the bathroom or just use the lighter color. We're leaving a wall w/exposed brick (1/2 way up) in the bathroom (it's the back of our chimney) and the vanity will be on that wall, so we're going to do mini pendants at the vanity rather than sconces.
Lots of decisions left to make we materials and finishes. I went to 2 cabinet stores and have changed some dimensions to give the bathroom a little more space... hopefully I place the order on Saturday. I'm trying to decide whether to lose more interior space to do a 2x6 exterior and interior wall. The exterior for extra insulation, and the interior to give added support to the pocket door to the bathroom ....

dr.girlfriend, it's true - I remember home quickly yours went! They're doing all our footings by hand (knocking through concrete too) and the inspection is tomorrow (!).
This is all Phase 1 of our grandplan - next phase is Master bath and then the kitchen.
