We're attending a masked Halloween trick or treat walk at the community center where staff will pass out candy along a path, people have timed entry and the whole thing feels a bit more controlled than going house to house. It is not on Halloween so we're passing out candy in masks this year at our house which isn't something we do. We've always been out during prime TOT hours and then get maybe 3 or 4 folks after that. This year we may get 10 or 20 kids. My block isn't a popular normally but who know this year. I think 10 kids actually live here so I assume they will come around and maybe kids from other close blocks.
sandandsea, you've gone the complete opposite of me. I'm usually pretty cheap for costumes, and this year we just took them to the costume store and let them have at it. I don't even know how much money we spent!
My kids are both wearing costumes from Hamilton. DD is the Marquis de Lafayette and DS is Hamilton. DS has been practicing singing “My name is Alexander Hamilton. There’s a million things I haven’t done. Like my homework!” DD is obsessed with rapping like Lafayette.
ETA- not my idea. I tried to get them to be a witch and a frog.
DD1 wants to be Bellatrix Lestrange. DD2 wants to be a character from Veggie Tales... so like a tomato or a cucumber. She always picks something super obscure that requires explanation. But I like this one better than her first idea... Barbie.
DD is going to be Rainbow Dash and DS hasn’t committed yet. He has a costume for Star Wars that fits him but I should make him decide and find his costumes.

DD is going to be Mal from Descendants. Luckily since the show has been on forever I was able to get a costume from a neighbor! DS is going to be Dr. Facilier from Princess and the Frog...which means I bought a voodoo witch doctor outfit from HalloweenCostumes.com
The kids get to wear costumes to school this year too but they have to be wearable all day, so I bought I them baby yoda jackets with cute little ears. DD has worn hers to school multiple times now.
So yeah, not only did I buy DS a costume, I actually bought them both 2nd costumes.
Well after an outing to the Halloween store with friends today DD wants to dress up. It also sounds like we are going to put together a get together for the original 10 gymnastic girls to socialize by eating candy and carving pumpkins. Some of quit and some are practicing at different times so hopefully everyone will be able to come so the girls can hang.
It did DD so much good to hang with friends for an hour.
