I always enjoyed the week-by-week posts like this. Feel free to give me advice on some design decisions (nothing is ordered but I need to soon!). My contractors are so fast, I'm just amazed. End of week 1, they hand dug all the footings and busted out the old concrete driveway.
The scope creep is happening, b/c we needed to do a big stair landing to meet certain footing/code requirements, so we decided to redo the whole patio, and why not make it much bigger and longer and cover it w/new flagstone? And we dropped the lighting next to the door for 6 exterior lights under the eaves, and 10 lights in the stairs (which are curved on the sides). I'm so stoked about it though, even though it's more $$$, it's just worth it to do now rather than later as we planned. DH and I are figuring out what to do w/our old flagstones now (fun new gardening projects)
I'm having some trouble selecting materials. I love the floor tile that I picked, but the light color is a little more cool and gray than I had anticipated. I just picked cabinets, they'll be maple and stained the lighter color in the pic below (you can see next to our floor tile).
I'm thinking of tiling the shower w/the long tile below and grouting w/a gray grout. I'm a little worried it will contrast with the half wall of brick in the bathroom and the vanity I'm eying. It's all reading a little cool (you can see the brick color in the pic of our patio above). I suppose if it all went together and looked off I could white wash or stain the brick a bit to tone the color...
Wow, what an exciting project!! How long do you expect it to take and are you able to live in the house during the reno?
Thank you! About 6 weeks? The cabinets may take a little longer, but at least they're last to go in. We can live here (thankfully), everything is on the exterior so far. The electrician and plumber need to come inside Fri/Sat to start their work for the new space, but it's all largely self contained.

I love your design choices! The brick wall is beautiful. It's hard without seeing the materials right next to each other, but from your photos I think it will work well together. And I love the cabinet color.
