Late posting, but wow, end of week 2 and they really are moving (crew is working 6 days/week). Rain was moving in Sunday, so they pushed extra hard to finish framing the addition and get the roof on & area wrapped. Electrician started his work too, and plumbers were here yesterday (technical beginning of week 3). He's planning on having the plumbing, electrical, and framing inspection next Monday (!).
We ended up making the 2nd story closet even bigger (about 9x12). He's going to build out the hanging space and shelves inside. There will be 2 square windows on the broad side pictured below (had to order a second window b/c we had planned a narrow space). Upcharge was modest for the square footage, and the idea of a his & hers closet just made sense. I need to pick 2 overhead lights for the closet. I hope the siding looks ok - we couldn't match our aluminum so we picked a textured hardywood siding in the same size.
The mason is doing a fantastic job - he's mirroring the cinder/brick construction of our original garage and cladding w/brick. I think they found a decent match, bricks arrive Wed. and he's mixing a mortar to try and match ours too.
You can see some of the framing inside (flagstone on the driveway is for the patio).
We still need to figure out how we're running the plumbing into the house. We *almost* approved a HUGE scope change to relocate plumbing inside + master bath & basement bath reno but then we got the price for labor and figured out we couldn't afford it (I spent much of my Columbus day sketching plans and moving things out for demo....LOL can't afford it). But hopefully we can bring these guys back next year.
I think our all in figure at this point is around $80K, we've paid about $35K in cash. I wish we could have added the bathrooms but the quote was almost $27K in labor, and materials surely would have cost at least $10K.
