Susie that second house is totally set up as a museum. Why are there 15 chamber pots and vases in the bathroom. Also where is the fridge and freezer and why are there baskets hanging from the ceiling in a bedroom?!? Interesting choices for sure.
I agree that the one on 55 acres is being sold for land value. I live in a new subdivision that was built around an old house like that. I think in my area there are covenants about tearing down the historic homes, since they always seem to be preserved on a little island of 1-2 acres in the middle of everything. It looks odd sometimes, but sometimes it is really well done.
There's a fridge/freezer and modern oven on photo 13. Some people just get really into their collections.
I like the house Susie, but I'd be cautious of a house on the historic register. Look into what that means before considering it. You may be very restricted in what you can do to it.
Just to be clear, the historic register house is not one I'm thinking of buying. It was mostly interesting to look at, and interesting inspiration of what an old house could be. But it's priced at roughly 2x the one in the OP, and close to 3x what my current house is worth. Even if we could make that leap, it wouldn't be a smart financial decision.

I absolutely love it! I have a cookie cutter new construction house and adore the charm of older homes. If I had the money to put into it, I’d buy in a heartbeat.

That last house is beyond dreamy! The only issue for my would be the acreage, but I hate gardening and am not outdoorsie and find my less than 1/4 acre plenty.
But the house itself is amazing and would be worth putting up with acreage for. Being on the historic register appeals to me, but I’m an historian and work in public history, so it would.
I have no interest in a development type house or neighborhood so any of these would hold more appeal for me personally, but on that everyone is different. I would look at all three to see potential and pitfalls, but with a very open mind.

I'm a huge fan of older houses (my current one is 1910). I also love doing up houses, though I'm done with buying and moving for right now. I hope you can find a house that works for you!
