We are doing a few things to get our house ready to sell. In the kitchen, I have one flat wall that is just "there". It had a wooden pot rack on it, and we took it down. So now it's bare. I thought that maybe doing a chalkboard wall. But I don't want to do it if it's out of style.
Thoughts?

I have less than no interest in having a chalkboard wall in my house. I hated writing on chalkboards as a kid, the dust got everywhere. I don't like playing with sidewalk chalk with my kids now. I would be so annoyed to have to undo a newly done chalkboard wall right away upon moving into a new to me house.
If you were doing this because it's your house and you like it, go for it! But if you're doing it to get your house ready to sell, HARD PASS. This is not a universal winner, and it's not even about whether it's in or out of style.
I would not do chalkboard just to sell. It’s very hit and miss if anyone will like it or hate it, and it’s messy.
And I just did a chalkboard wall to sell, but it was to replace a fridge end panel that had water damage and it was a quick and cheap fix (MDF, trim, and paint) vs the cost ($120) and lead time (12 weeks) to replace it with an oak end panel. This is the one we did. Sold quickly with those cabinets and the wall...
that said, look at houses for sale around you. If others have one, then maybe?
