cross posting from my local board - we're unexpectedly redoing the basement bathroom b/c we need to move plumbing for the addition. So I'm trying to keep the cost as low as possible. What would you change/add to make this work? I need to pick shower tile and fixtures. If the cost is low, I could probably change the floor, stain the cabinet dark (or paint it, new hardware).
Here's what I have: ETA: Actually not using the mudroom tile, I ended up ordering less (thanks to a more helpful saleslady). Leftover floor tile from mudroom (I might have enough to do just 1 color):
Used vanity purchased from ReStore (it's solid cherry....but I thought of painting it).
I think the lighter tile could work, considering you have enough of it already. I don’t think I’d bother restaining the vanity, I’d just swap out the hardware for ORB or even just black to modernize it a bit. I like the shower enclosure. If you’re going to repaint I’d do a light, warm colour so it will complement the warm wood of the vanity.
I would go ahead with the lighter tile if you have enough. Find a complimentary tile for the shower wall. The great thing is you can install the vanity and if it doesn’t work then you can paint it after when you have more time to decide on the right colour. You could also replace the cabinet doors or that panel along with the hardware to get the look you ultimately want.

If you feel like doing the work, I'd paint the vanity and get black hardware for it to work with the shower. The tile looks good, so I'd stick with it if you have enough.
Is this a walk-out basement/are there any windows in the bathroom? If not, I'd try to keep everything very light and paint the vanity.
There's a small window in the bathroom. I figured out I could order less mudroom tile (putting cheaper tile under cabinets). So I'm going to go ahead and order different floor tile for the basement space - something light, like in the white family
