But Mr. Trump had other things on his mind. “People are tired of Covid,” he complained about the coronavirus. “People are tired of hearing Fauci and these idiots, all these idiots who got it wrong.”
He called Dr. Fauci a “nice” guy, but said, “He’s been here for 500 years,” and added, “Every time he goes on television, there’s always a bomb, but there’s a bigger bomb if you fire him. This guy’s a disaster.”
Mr. Trump has also bristled at Dr. Fauci’s superior approval ratings, particularly when it comes to trustworthiness. A poll released late last month by the nonpartisan Kaiser Family Foundation found that 68 percent of Americans trusted Dr. Fauci either a great deal or a fair amount to provide reliable information about the virus, while only 40 percent trusted Mr. Trump.

The only thing I think Dr. Fauci has gotten wrong so far is his estimate of 120,000-200,000 deaths. Except, we are now obliterating that so that's not really something Trump should brag about ("He was WRONG! We're killing way more people than he said we would! MAGA!").
People harp on the mask thing but I believe him when he said he wanted to make sure people weren't hoarding them and preventing a shortage for healthcare workers. I mean, look what happened with toilet paper.
It never fails to make me rage when I see these poll numbers. 40% trust him?
His numbers have been constant thanks to his base. ~35% will always support him no matter what. 40% may account for all those people plus a few other folks who may not like the guy but he’s still POTUS and they can’t not trust the POTUS. That’s my theory.

Logically, I know there are so many out there. But it's still always too many.

Well but I’m sure he didn’t expect the lack of mask wearing and Trump’s actions when he originally said that number.

I’m surprised this is the first one I’ve heard of so far.
Gives me a sick feeling about how Trump is going to win, with shit like this giving him cause to contest the results and then Congress and SCOTUS will ultimately back him up

this makes me nervous. Ours are supposedly monitored 24/7 but not really sure what that means.
This is some straight-up shit I'd expect to see in autocracies and/or war-torn countries. How do they figure out whose ballots were in there and whether they can vote? It seems like they can't just say "Hey, if you dropped off your ballot between X time and X time on X date(s), you'll need to request another ballot" since I don't see how that can be proven.
I was shopping this weekend and Advent Calendars are already out, which is way too early, but I grabbed one. I made it my election count-down calendar. It really should be filled with wine and hard liquor, but chocolate is always good too.
Oh I bought a advent calendar wine box from Costco. This is a genius idea. All of the extra days will be needed to deal with post election fuckery.

I hope, if it’s anything like WA, they have unique identifiers on the outer envelope. The article posted a link to their page that voters can track to see if their ballot has been received and tabulated. I don’t know if so the voters will see it but I assume the local news will be talking about the story and hopefully social media and hyper local sites like Next Door and community pages on Facebook. Hopefully voters will know to check in time to request new ballots or vote in person.

i didn’t see wine but they had craft beer advent calendars at our Costco. I might get one for the DH even if he’s not a huge beer drinker. Maybe I can find a wine one.

The system in CO, in addition to the tracking also allows people to request another mail-in ballot for any reason (spilled coffee, dog chewed) at the Voter Service centers. Then that one voids out any others that come in. The systems show if they receive more than 1 ballot for a registered voter.
I keep reading up on polls by Trafalgar. They keep showing 45 up, even in states where the polling average puts Biden at like +6. They were more right about swing states in 2016 than other folks. I keep thinking they'll be right again. Lots of pollsters are all "they're partisan hacks", but...it's becoming a wee bit of obsession and is totally unhealthy.
Their polls are weird, though. I get that people split tickets sometimes, but they have one in AZ that shows 45 two points ahead of Biden but ALSO Kelly 2 points over McSally. That's not a split that makes sense to me.
So. Anyway. It's clearly the 15 days to go pessimistic spiral in my world now.

My husband and I have a shared calendar and he asked the other day, “what does 22 mean?”
I was like, “that’s the number of days until the election” 😂
Driving today I saw a “dump trump” flag flying from a truck. When I first saw it I rolled my eyes thinking it was a pro Trump flag because I’ve seen those also. Realizing it was a dump Trump flag made my day.
I went and voted in person last week and there were no lines and I was in and out in 5 minutes. I find myself wishing time away looking forward to election night.
I just want to scream into the CEP void that I cannot fucking WAIT for this to be over. Just, fuck. I just want to know either way.
I seriously can barely stand it. I’m not in a healthy place. I’m going to have to stay off this board until election night because I just really can’t think about it.
FWIW, my mom and I were talking about the long lines and increased registration and her theory is that all the people who felt strongly about voting for Trump voted for him in 2016, so the increased registrations and lines is likely an indicator of people who are pissed off and looking for change. I hope to God she is right about that.

WA will as well. One can also request a ballot online or even reprint your ballot. Doing so invalidates any prior ballot. I love how organized mail in states are.

I saw they were trending on Twitter and promptly decided to go breathe in a paper bag. I've been feeling confident about everything except how Trump will challenge the results but now I'm knocked down a few pegs. Which I welcome, since I also don't want to be complacent again either.

Yard signs stress me out. I compulsively end up counting them and looking for them.

There were a shit ton of republican ones on a main road that I drive a lot. The city came by last week and took down every last one (and any other random signs in public thoroughfares). I can’t even describe how much lighter I feel when I drive that road now.

@@@@ Sorry I thought I was on ml
We have been attempt to vote since Friday. The lines are 2-3 hours long in our area. I cannot take DS. He will have an epic meltdown. Our plan was to go on Friday and one sit in the car while the other votes. That isn’t going to work. H is working this week and cannot help with school while I go vote. I’m not sure how we are going to pull this off. I’m stressed about it.
