I seriously can barely stand it. I’m not in a healthy place. I’m going to have to stay off this board until election night because I just really can’t think about it.
FWIW, my mom and I were talking about the long lines and increased registration and her theory is that all the people who felt strongly about voting for Trump voted for him in 2016, so the increased registrations and lines is likely an indicator of people who are pissed off and looking for change. I hope to God she is right about that.
Yard signs stress me out. I compulsively end up counting them and looking for them.
Ugh, me too. We are planning a trip to a lake we've never been to later this week, and I keep getting stressed out imagining that we'll get there and be surrounded by Trump signs and flags. The opposite of relaxing. Ugh.
I just want to scream into the CEP void that I cannot fucking WAIT for this to be over. Just, fuck. I just want to know either way.

This is what my h is saying. I hope he's right. This is going to be...there just aren't words for what it is.
We have been attempt to vote since Friday. The lines are 2-3 hours long in our area. I cannot take DS. He will have an epic meltdown. Our plan was to go on Friday and one sit in the car while the other votes. That isn’t going to work. H is working this week and cannot help with school while I go vote. I’m not sure how we are going to pull this off. I’m stressed about it.
What are the hours of voting? Can you go before work or after or at least after virtual learning is over? Then your DH can around his work schedule.
In a pinch I would consider having a neighbor watching your kid in your yard with masks as an option or bring your kid and a tablet and stroller. While 2 + hours is a very long time I think a tablet and snacks could make it work. I used to entertain my son at games like that.

Add me to this list. Every time I leave the MSP metro, the signs and flags are everrryyywhere. I end up staring down at my phone (not driving of course) instead of what used to be enjoying the scenery.

I walk every street in our neighborhood with the dog. I counted the other day. 35 for Trump, 8 for Biden. It makes me feel some kind of way that these are my neighbors and it's ruining my dog walks. The Trumpers are obnoxious as well, big flags and multiple signs. One house is even giving away mini Trump flags for free. My personal least favorite is a hand painted "Trump and the 3 Supremes" sign.
I was clinging to the hope that the 100s of houses without signage were for Biden but that Trump number keeps increasing the closer we get to election day :-(.

I’m not trying to be a negative Nancy but everyone talking about being excited that lines are long and ballot boxes are full, are you just excited because more people in general are voting? Or are you assuming more of these votes are democratic voters?

Historically, higher turnout helps Democrats (which is why the GOP is so hellbent on voter suppression) so I think we're all hoping that holds true this time.
We put up a Biden lawn sign, and it was stolen in less than 24 hours. I zip tied a window sign (so not thick enough to be a yard sign) to our front porch, and it lasted a few weeks, until the first night with our Halloween decorations, which lit up the porch. Some jerk ripped it off and ripped it in two. My mild-mannered husband just taped it to the porch. Good luck ripping it off again!

I have intense feelings about this but no words to be able to discuss it.
I early voted in Texas last week and 1 voter was maskless but also 3 election workers too! I was so annoyed.
I've worked 2 shifts so far during early voting in the more red part of my county. When I signed up, I swear it said that masks will be required for workers, optional for voters- thanks Abbott- but I have since learned that they are optional for workers as well. We've only had one voter outright not wear a mask; one broke on a voter while in line and another forgot theirs at home- both were provided disposable ones.
The complaints I'm hearing about wearing masks are coming from the republican* workers. On my first day, the lead guy complained about this being an overblown hoax and has worn his around his neck. On my 2nd day, he sneezed TWICE into his hands and proceeded to wipe them on his clothing and continued conversing. This other lady, who turned out to be his wife, wore a mesh mask on day 1 and switched to a face shield on day 2. This other lady, who is this couple's friend, opted for a face shield on day 2. She had a coughing fit where you check in and get your ballot and she did not even bother covering her mouth.
Out of about 12 workers, only 4 (5 if I count myself) have consistently worn a face mask over both the nose and mask. 2 are Republicans, 3 dems. The other 7 are republican.
*I know they are republican because even though we are not supposed to be having idle chatter much less talking politics, they proceed to discuss conspiracy theories and how they vote for party over person, folks with R's next to the candidates, "you know, the right party."
This is my first time working the polls and while I really enjoy it, these shenanigans drive me crazy. Maybe next time, I'll snag a position in the city.

Same. And if I never see or hear another Collins or Gideon ad it will be too soon. I was flipping through my radio presets in the car recently and one or the other was on literally every station. They're every other ad on TV. I understand that this is a key seat for flipping the Senate but I am so over-saturated.

I am so pissed for you. Here you are doing your part to be a good citizen during a pandemic and these fuckers won't put on masks. Thank you for doing this and I'm sorry that the other workers are putting you at risk.
The only thing I think Dr. Fauci has gotten wrong so far is his estimate of 120,000-200,000 deaths. Except, we are now obliterating that so that's not really something Trump should brag about ("He was WRONG! We're killing way more people than he said we would! MAGA!").
People harp on the mask thing but I believe him when he said he wanted to make sure people weren't hoarding them and preventing a shortage for healthcare workers. I mean, look what happened with toilet paper.
My only issue is, they should have worked with the manufacturers that a certain large percentage only go to hospitals. At least people would have jumped on the home made masks way faster.
I live in Iowa. Those John Hopkins numbers are nowhere close ro what our numbers are showing. I suppose I need to go down a rabbit hole to figure it out.
The western side of the state doesn’t give a fuck and it is spreading pretty rapidly over there. But still our state numbers say we have a positivity rate of 12%.
I keep reading up on polls by Trafalgar. They keep showing 45 up, even in states where the polling average puts Biden at like +6. They were more right about swing states in 2016 than other folks. I keep thinking they'll be right again. Lots of pollsters are all "they're partisan hacks", but...it's becoming a wee bit of obsession and is totally unhealthy.
Their polls are weird, though. I get that people split tickets sometimes, but they have one in AZ that shows 45 two points ahead of Biden but ALSO Kelly 2 points over McSally. That's not a split that makes sense to me.
So. Anyway. It's clearly the 15 days to go pessimistic spiral in my world now.
👀WHAT THE F*CK! (VOTE ForTRUMP) IM OUT, 🏃♂️💨F*CK NEW YORK The KNICKS never win anyway. 🤷🏽♂️I don’t care Trump doesn’t like black people 62% are you out of ya fucking mind. 😤 t.co/uZu02k2Dlz

Back in August, several Facebook friends shared that viral video of IA gov. Kim Reynolds telling a reporter that the "media scare tactics" are a bigger problem than the virus, using it as justification for getting kids back in the classroom. I want to scream at all of them.
This tweet from Cuomo’s secretary has a list from Johns Hopkins regarding positivity rates by state over the last 7 days.
My first thought - HOLY SHIT IOWA, 50%!!!
My dad had a triple bypass this past Thursday. In Iowa. I’d be nervous for his surgery and recovery anyway, but damn if this isn’t doubling my anxiety.

You could take the approach mentioned in this story - homeowner supposedly* put a note on the sign saying, “If you steal this I’ll make a $50 donation to Planned Parenthood, and get another sign.”
