I posted back in January (holy shit, this has been the fastest and slowest year of all time) about redecorating my living room. I got lots of great advice from you guys and wanted to share the final result. It took ages to do this because of various covid shipping delays.
Things left to do: remove the existing lights and add recessed lighting, do a small gallery wall between the two doors of family photos in silver and black frames (will probably stick to mostly black and white images to keep things neutral), do something about the wall to the left of the sliding door where the framed pictures currently are. The space where the bench is I'm just leaving alone for now. I still don't know what I want to do with it.
It turned out so good! I love it! I want a shot of what you did with that back wall. Is that a bench? Storage?
Just a bench that we had in the basement. I’m leaning toward creating a built in desk for the kids to do home work at, but I’ve got a year or two yet before I really need to worry about that, so I’m just leaving it be for now.
This looks fantastic! SO SO much better. The only thing I would change and maybe this is in the plans when you redo the ceiling light is to paint the ceiling and walls with less sheen. What you currently have is too shiny for the space.
You are giving me ideas for when we eventually replace our sectional, too. I think we have similar sized living room and I really like the love seat and 2 chairs together. It looks like it doesn't take up any more space than what our current couch does, but I think it looks much nicer!
thejackpot, don't the plants make you so happy!? I've never had house plants before this year (except some succulents in my kitchen that I've managed to keep alive for about 18 months now) and I super love them.
Aloe Vera, omg, yes, the whole house needs to be painted. The sellers painted everything before they moved out and while the color is fine as far as whites go, the paint is pretty low quality and gets marked up easily. Definitely a project to do down the road.
wildrice, it took a lot of convincing to get DH on board with chairs instead of another couch/loveseat, but he actually uses the chair closest to the fireplace quite a bit (the other one is mine full time). I feel like it helps a lot with breaking up the space and making it feel less heavy, which we were in desperate need of.
What did you decide to do on the wall in the kitchen that kind of looks down on the living room?
So I really want to do two offset floating shelves and put a bunch of plants on them, but DH doesn’t want to do anything with it. I was pretty intense about the living room so I’m giving him this for now. Will revisit... later. Lol
