I love that the couch arms are so wide and flat. I try to hold out for that when we look for furniture because it's so convenient to be able to lay a book or a phone on the arm.
You made it seem so lively and light (I think it's the plants and the non-bulky sort of open furniture).
Our kids are pretty much the same age and our house looks like a a bunch of college guys live here raising two kids. It's bad. Sheets on all of the LR furniture, clutter, etc.
What did you decide to do on the wall in the kitchen that kind of looks down on the living room?
So I really want to do two offset floating shelves and put a bunch of plants on them, but DH doesn’t want to do anything with it. I was pretty intense about the living room so I’m giving him this for now. Will revisit... later. Lol
The living room is really great. I’ll echo what pp said, it does look like grown ups live there! Mine looks like ... I don’t even know. It was nice and then we had a baby and now there are gates and toys everywhere 😂

The flat arms are great! I chose the same style for the chairs and it makes it really easy to balance my laptop on the arms.
My kids basically aren't allowed in this room. No food, no toys, no shoes. I'm pretty relentless about it. They have a playroom in our front room and watch tv in the basement. I know people say kids ruin everything, and maybe we just got lucky, but they do a pretty good job following the rules about this space. It's unbelievably nice to have an adult space that stays consistently clean and clutter free.
I love the table behind the couch! Where'd you get it?
Also, I just started acquiring house plants. I have 3 so far. I could never keep them alive in the Seattle area. Central/eastern WA state gets so much more sun so hopefully I'll be more successful at keeping them alive this time around.

Oh la la, VERY HGTV! Did your fire place come that way or did you have it refaced? Ours is red brick and brass, I'd love to see it get a modern re-facing and don't know where to start.
It's funny with your TV stand, I want one like your old white one, DH is more like your new black one. I guess that will depend on what couches we pick.

Great job!
Oh, god, it was so ugly when we moved in. This is what it looked like when we bought the house. My dad and I replaced it last summer. It was time consuming, but not hard. We cut out the dry wall (couldn’t remove the tile), replaced the drywall, and then used stacked stone sheets for the new surround.
