Anyone have a food thermometer they love? Just looking for a typical instant read with a probe. I feel like we buy one every year and every year it get ruined when I rinse off the probe in the sink and the display stops working. Anyone have one that works well and is somewhat water resistant?
Culinary school?? Do share! This is so cool, do you work as a chef?
I should have said pastry school. But yes, I do. At least until COVID. For several years I had a retail storefront and then the past few years I had a dessert food truck. I pivoted to corporate events which was awesome until 2020.

This is SO cool!!! We really have a collection of fascination people here. I just learned of smock ’s amazing plague knowledge yesterday!
isabel - who the hell knows lol, can I blame wine??
I have had it for years and I use it multiple times every week. I felt lost when I couldn't find it while grilling steaks one day. Thankfully it turned up or I would have had to immediately order another. I even tried giving them as part of family gifts a few years ago in an exchange. I don't think people understood. If they used it, they would! Mine is super quick, very accurate, easy to wash; I love it.
I love this one. It had magnets on the back so i can keep it on the fridge. For some reason my other meat thermometers always get lost in my drawers and I can never find them, so i like that I always know where it is and never have to search for it.
This is the one I have and I love it. Also, it's rechargeable so I never have to worry about changing the battery. I also have the same one that winecat posted and another one by Taylor that I can leave the probes in my food while it's cooking and the readout sticks to my stove with a magnet. But, the Inkbird is still my favorite.
We've had this for 4 years and it works great. Magnet to keep on the fridge, fast reading, and like that it folds.
ETA: I didn't want to spend 100 on the Thermapen, so tried to find an alternative. We've been very happy with this and use it all the time (do a lot of bbq, grilling and such)
I think we got a faulty Thermapen. Ours takes forever to read a temp. I don’t think we realized that it’s not supposed to be that slow until we’d already had it for at least a year. Now it’s at least five years old. I’m kicking myself for not reaching out to the company earlier. I’m thinking of buying a cheaper one from Amazon to replace it.

I have the thermopop mentioned above ($34) and also have the pocket thermometer you can calibrate ($29) www.thermoworks.com/RT301WA Both have worked great.
Not asked, but I also got the loud kitchen timer from that site. The one on the old oven quit working (new one doesn't have one) and the microwave timer isn't loud or long enough. This one is super obnoxious, so we never "miss" the timer like we used to. Well worth it.

Rechargeable is cool. I used to have one of the prob thermometers which I used for caramel but it broke. I miss it. #nerd lol
My clip-on broke too and I can't justify the expense when I can just stand there with the thermapen. #steamburns
Same. Even though I really liked being able to set the alarm for specific temps. The sleeve on the thermometer I have works as a handle which helps but not enough, especially if the hoods are on.
