We started with solids at 5 1/2 months. We were going to wait until 6 months, but I was hoping it would help with her reflux and spitting up issues (I have a never ending spit up/puke fountain).
We did avocado first then, peas then pears and so on.
We started with banana, avocado, and sweet potato. We let him feed himself (BLW) from the start. He hates spoon-feeding, so I just rolled with that.
This is what we did. I think around 5 months we started giving her bits of our soft food. We were in NOLA and I distinctly remember giving her some of my avocado soup to keep her quiet at a restaurant.

We skipped rice cereal too. If kiddo is satisfied with just BM, I would skip it for now. My DD is 99% height and weight and a huge chunk -- she was fine without it. We started with purees -- carrots, sweet pot, etc. at about 6 months.
Our pedi has told us to start with rice cereal next week when baby is 2 1/2 months old. They are wanting to keep the amount of formula down. I still haven't decided yet.
