I'm living in the middle of a construction zone and it's starting to wear on me. My house cleaners are actually here right now because I need the few rooms that aren't destroyed to at least be clean for my sanity.
They announced at work today that they are going to start requiring Covid tests in two of our buildings but not all, which makes no sense. I mean, my building isn't even open yet so it doesn't affect me either way, but I really think that if you are going to require it in some places, that you should require it in all.
Kid is at work, DH went into the office to get a new laptop.
I AM HOME ALONE! But stuck in the last 1/2 day of this training. It's so boring and useless. I wish they were being more interactive, but the way it's setup, there's almost no conversing between attendees.
I need ham like water Like breath, like rain I need ham like mercy From Heaven's gate Sometimes ham salad or casserole or ham that’s free range, all natural I need ham
I’m leaving for a girls weekend this afternoon! Just four of us going to my friend’s mountain condo for two days of eating, drinking, possibly hiking, puzzles, movies. I am SO excited! Hopefully the smoke yo there isn’t too bad, there are so many horrible wildfires in Colorado right now. It’s so sad, they have evacuated a number of mountain towns in the last few days and homes are just up in flames.
One of my school friends got an offer for a really cool development program in Denver. I'm happy for her, but man. I'm also so jealous it hurts. It's not anything I would want to do, but it's perfect for her and I want the thing that's perfect for ME and right on the end of getting rejected for the thing that I think is perfect for me really really stings. And I still haven't heard back from Delaware, I think they're ghosting me.
TR I don’t know why people schedule a vacation right after interviews! That’s so torturous! And to not have a decision made before they go is brutal. I’m sorry. I do hope you get your perfect fit. You’ve been working really hard for this.
I was supposed to go on a quick overnight trip last night but wasn't able to. I still have the day off, so I sent DS to daycare and had a lazy morning. It's so beautiful out right now. I'm running out for errands now and then going to lunch on a patio with friends. Then, I think I'm going to head to the lake and walk the path around it, and maybe read a book in the grass for awhile before I have to go get DS. H has their final HS football game of the season tonight so I'll be on my own with DS again, not sure what we'll do.
Yesterday DSs(almost 8) friend came over and asked if he wanted to rake leaves with him to earn some money. They went over and did the next door neighbors house. They finish and DS comes home crying because friend said he get $6 and DS only gets $4 so DS just left with no money. I'm waiting for the text from friends mom saying "oops sorry about that". She instead sends a text that says "we told [son] to tell his friends what the pay split will be up front next time".

That’s messed up. If they did the same amount of work why didn’t they get the same pay?
I’ve got my period, it’s rainy, DHs paycheck was all sorts of messed up today and tomorrow’s the 11th anniversary of 1 of my moms death from ovarian cancer. I’m in a great mood today

CurlyQ284, wtf, the mom actually thinks that the solution to the problem is to talk about the pay before starting the work? That's messed up. I'm sorry your son was upset
I'm REALLY angry at Trump supporters today. A very dear friend of mine (who has never said an unkind word to or about ANYONE other than Trump) posted on Facebook, asking people to delete her as a friend if they still support him. I went to comment in support when I got an error message - then I started reading the comments. Her OWN FAMILY called her the most vile things and basically ganged up on her (there were others who agreed with my friend thankfully). I went to her page - she deleted her account, so I reached out to her to tell her I'm on her side. She said her family basically started messaging her and attacking her, so the only thing she could do was just deactivate the account.
I'm SO angry and upset for her. THIS IS TRUMP'S AMERICA: fueled by hatred, racism, greed, and bullying. I don't know how we could survive a possible 4 more years of this
My mom just tested positive for COVID. I'm trying not to freak out. She and my dad have been self-isolating for months. They literally only leave their house to get groceries and have been so careful with mask wearing, hand washing, and social distancing. So far, her symptoms are mild. I pray they stay that way.

I do not know. I do not like this woman, I've had only negative interactions with her so I feel like this may be on brand.
Kids excuse was that he carried the equipment. I ended up bringing over my rake for them to use cause they said his wasn't working on the pine needles so whatever.

I don't have kids but I'm kinda impressed with capitalist assholery of the other kid - he was the one who came up with the idea so it makes sense to him to do the 60/40 split! It's a good lesson (though maybe not for an 8 year old), know what you're getting paid before you do a job.

I would totally text back and say that your son has no interest in working together with him again, but thanks anyway.

Totally this. That other kid is a little businessman. And I don't think there's anything wrong with that arrangement, finders fee and all that, but it should have been specified up front.

It was a good lesson for DS too. He said he might ask the next door neighbor to do her leaves himself and pocket the full $10.
I'm still side eyeing mom though.
A lot of this is probably tied to my journey with my sons behavioral issues tied to ADHD and impulse control. We've done therapy for years, he's in a group in school for building social skills, like we've worked REALLY hard on stuff like this and it pisses me off that other kids just get to be assholes and its fine. I have history with this woman and her assholery as well so I'm just over her and her kid.
Me to my assistant, who was going into the office for a half day today: hey, I haven't been in this week because of a scheduling conflict, can you check my desk and let me know if anything new has been placed on it?

I’m kinda here. Except they are 8. My dad tried to teach me that lesson when I got a friend to help me with some landscaping work my father was paying me for (at a commercial property). I told my friend what I was getting, an expected he would get the same. Instead, I had to pay friend out of my pay, and got a big lesson on subcontracting. But, we were 20. Not 8.
also, leaves for $10? Your son can come do my yard anytime.

I accidentally registered for 2 online conferences at the same time. I thought one ended Friday and the other started Saturday. Nope. They overlap today. So I've got dueling laptops streaming both.
And the kids are home today. Today is going to be a mess.

It’s a beautiful day outside and I am sitting in a waiting room in emerg. I’ve had a dermatological issue for the past week and even after 7 days of antibiotics and 3 doctors visits it just keeps getting worse. I just had a CT scan and am waiting on the head of general surgery. I am so frustrated and sad. My town has moderate Covid risk and I just do not want to be here. Also I can’t eat or drink which is making me cranky.
Also, if I recall from earlier in the week, there are 3 of us with anniversaries today! We are 15, but got married on a Sunday. I assume the others are 16 or 9-ish, since saturdays are more popular. Happy anniversary!

This is so messed up. I would flat out tell her that there won't be a next time.

Right?
I'm like shit, that is a lotta work for $5 each man. I HATE leaves. I wouldn't do it for any less than $50 but at least now I know I can get some help for cheap in a couple of weeks (from my own kid, not neighbor kid).
