My H washed all of our sheets with a black pen so now I'm looking for a new King sheet set. Here is what I want: Not flannel- preferably something cool feeling because we live in the desert. Something other than just a solid color. I need a little print of some sort otherwise I end up feeling like I'm in a hospital bed High thread count. Higher thread count means they last longer and are more comfy right?
Direct me to these unicorn sheet sets please and ty.
High thread count. Higher thread count means they last longer and are more comfy right?
In my experience this is not necessarily true. Higher thread count tend to not last as long, but they are more comfy. Our nicer sheets got holes much earlier. I think because they tend to be thinner? They were very comfy though.

Beech cotton from bed bath and beyond Is my favorite. I have tried several others and always go back to these. They are breathable and soft, kind of like a well worn tshirt.

Ok very interesting! I just figured that more threads would make sheet sturdier!

I'm not an expert, but in my experience it's not the case. Our high thread count ones from our wedding were relatively thin and eventually ripped pretty badly. Alternatively, my kid has 152 thread count sheets from Ikea that I can 100% guarantee will never rip. I just can't imagine they could. They will get thrown out for stains or other reasons way before they would ever rip.
We have linen sheets from Lands End on our bed. I like them in both summer and winter. They go on sale often enough to wait for 40% off or more, I got ours 50% off around the holidays a couple years ago.
Ours are solid, not sure if they have patterns. But I def recommend them.
Mellanni sheets from Amazon. They have a ton of good reviews. We have 2 sets. I don't love them, but MH does - because he is always hot when he sleeps and feels like these don't make him as hot. (I'm cold all the time and would love flannel all the time, but that won't happen with him! lol) They are generally pretty reasonably priced and do occassionally go on lightening deals. I think they were around $40 for a king set
I agree with linen sheets. It is hard to describe, but they are very cloud-like. I won’t ever go back to cotton. Mine are Matteo and ridiculously extravagant but I’m sure there are better-priced options that are just as nice.
Yes to hot and uncomfortable! They feel so soft to touch, but I can't sleep on them at all. We rented a house a few summers ago that had a king bed and we didn't get the linens package, so we had to bring our own sheets and we don't have a king. So I bought a super cheap set of microfiber ones, and I seriously could not sleep on them. When we got home, I asked my kids to 'rank' their sheet sets in terms of comfort, and they both put their microfiber ones last, so I figured it wasn't just me and we've stuck to 100% cotton since then (although I guess my kids do have fleece sheets that they use in the dead of winter when I keep it too cold for their liking overnight).
I’ve been dying to try Sheex, but they don’t make them to fit my mattress (flex top king).
We have Sheex because my husband and both boys sleep very hot. They all LOVE them. I like them fine, but I twist a lot in my sleep apparently and since the Sheex are a little bit stretchy, sometimes I get tangled in them.
If you want "cool" sheets, I suggest you look for percale. Higher thread count doesn't mean they last longer. In my experience, they don't. I bought some 600 tc and they had a hole within a year. I stick to 300-400 tc.
Company Store percale or Target Threshold. I actually prefer the Target ones because they have elastic all the way around the fitted sheet and it helps it stay on tight.
The thought of soft/stretchy/flannel-y sheets makes my skin crawl; I am a cool and crisp sheet girl all the way!
Threshold from Target are awesome. Mine have held up well, and they stay on the mattress better than all my other sheets. I also like the little tags that tell me which side of the fitted sheet I'm working with.
