People have survived in life rafts for months with very little food or drinkable water, so 12 days isn’t impossible. Her story sounds fishy for other reasons though....like why set up a GFM?
I looked it up and here's what the description says they're going to do with the $12,000:
• Funds will be used to reimburse the family and friend's costs in searching for Holly. (Such as; hotels rooms, equipment purchased to look for Holly, car rentals, and food for search parties. • A separate bank account will be opened up to reimburse these individuals. • A remainder of the donations will be used to cover the medical care applied to Holly during her hospital stay as well as therapy costs moving forward. We appreciate everyone’s continued support. This fundraiser is, and always was, 100 percent legitimate. However, we acknowledge and respect people’s concerns over the many inaccuracies portrayed by the press and social media regarding Holly’s ordeal. Whomever has concerns about our use of their donation is welcome to request a refund without any objection from the family. You may do so by contacting Go Fund Me and go through their refund process.
I'm so glad she cleared up that it's legitimate. That seals the deal for me.
They’re not saying she would have known to not drink the water. They’re saying she would have been very sick or dead from drinking the water. Since she wasn’t very sick or dead when they found her, she must not have drank the water.
If she was truly lost and she’s not an expert on marine plants, why didn’t she drink the water? No doubt she was thirsty over the course of 12 days. What stopped her from drinking the water?

There is probably signage at the park about not drinking the water. I follow the Zion Facebook page because of our trip there last year and they have posted about it there a number of times too. But after 12 days of no water would you be thirsty enough to take the risk? I don’t know.

That’s part of the discrepancies that the officials cited as why they don’t believe her story. The way the story was told the first time, it was insinuated that she drank the water to stay alive. Then officials were—well, if you did you’d be dead or damn near close—and I believe that’s when the story altered. It’s hard to get an accurate time line bc many news articles are just bits and pieces.
I need ham like water Like breath, like rain I need ham like mercy From Heaven's gate Sometimes ham salad or casserole or ham that’s free range, all natural I need ham
Honestly, my first reaction when I read that she was fine after being missing for 12 DAYS, was that there was something hinky going on.
To be fair, someone I used to be friends with went missing for 17 days last year in hawaii. She was essentially fine when she was found. She was dehydrated, lost weight and had some skin abrasions, but she was only in the hospital overnight for monitoring. The human body can be so fragile yet so amazing at the same time.
But yeah this story seemed off once I heard she couldn't have been drinking from the water source she was by.
Was that the yoga instructor?
From what I have read, the stories her family is supplying is not lining up with how they found her. The water source they claim she used would have left her very sick or dead and some other details.
And yes, while I highlighted the amount of time, it was just a feeling from reading the story that something seemed off.

No, you would not drink the water because you would be dead. There is no way she survived without water.
After 2 days without water a person would drink from a contaminate source because they would be delirious and confused.
