I think I am going to try botox or dysport for the first time for my forehead. I have some fine lines and I want to see how it looks. I am 35 now and I don't think its too bad but it bothers me so I would like to try it. I have the name of someone a good friend goes to that works in a derm office. For people who have done this did you do dysport or botox? How often do you go? What age did you start? Anything I should know ahead of time?
I do Botox because I utilize the Brilliant Distinctions rewards program but I know people like Dysport because it sets in faster. I started started at 35 and go just twice a year to hopefully reduce lines and wrinkles in the future. I do 20 units, my 11s are the most noticeable spot. I'm happy with it - not nearly as big of a deal as I hyped it up to be! Don't hesitate to try another provider if you don't like a few rounds with the first injector. Anecdotally among friends, people are happier with going to a medspa vs. a derm office since they administer it so frequently.
I went for the first time this summer because a friend opened her own med spa and they were running a promotion. I ended up with 25 units in my forehead and 11s. It sets in after a few days. I haven't had it touched up yet.
Biggest thing is you're not supposed to lay down for 4 hours afterwards.
I had Botox done once before I got pregnant. Just 10 units in my forehead (I was young). I liked it and look forward to getting it again when my body is my own again
I’m 35 and started getting Botox last summer. I get it in my forehead and in between my brows. It lasted about 5-6 months before it totally wore off. I loved the results! I’ve gone twice now and plan to keep it up about twice a year.

I started at 34 or 35 and go every three months. The NP I see tends to use very little at first (I started with just nine units in my 11s) but the flip side is it wears off faster. (OTOH, I tried another guy who started me off with 25 and it was way too much. I felt “frozen” and hated it.)
Between Botox and Dysport, I’d probably go with whatever your injector feels most comfortable with. Botox does have a great rewards program though, FWIW.
One red flag I’ve encountered is don’t go to anyone who charges by the area — you’re young so you should pay by the unit. If you find someone who charges a flat price for “forehead,” IME you should run the other way. (That’s how I once ended up with a $500 bill for terrible Botox.)

I heart botox. I get it in my forehead and crows feet. I started at 35, I'm 36 now. I find it looks very natural- I just look around 8 years younger. I love it. I didn't look into other options, though. I go quarterly and pay about $450 for forehead and crows feet.

I started Botox 2 years ago for my horizontal forehead lines, I get ten units every 4 months and I love it. Was just there today actually. Brilliant distinctions just changed to Alle, make sure you sign up, you’ll get rewards and coupons loaded. I had $20 in rewards today and a $50 coupon so that was a nice surprise. I usually get a $20 reward for each visit. My top lines are gone, the lower ones are just minimized some, they don’t want to go too low with it because it can look very unnatural so o just get it along the top, maybe inch or so? From my hairline

I started with Botox at about 39 and at about 45 I’m using almost 40 units and do my 11’s, forehead lines, and crows feet. I need it every 3-4 months and don’t think I could ever go without it again, I swear when it wears off I just wake up one day looking like a hag lol.
I haven’t tried Dysport but my friend who is very “into” cosmetic esthetics loves it. The biggest difference I’m aware of is Dysport takes effect immediately while Botox takes a week or so. But my friend swears that it “spreads” better or something. Who knows!
If you choose Botox def enroll in Alle for the rewards. A couple of times a year they will have a special to BOGO a $100 gift card too. Actually, I think Dysport might earn rewards on Alle now too, my Allergan rep mentioned it wasn’t exclusive to Allergan products anymore.
Piggybacking - does Botox actually minimize the appearance of existing forehead lines, or does it just prevent it from getting any worse?
I have terrible horizontal forehead lines now and wish I had done something about it earlier.
From what I understand, it’s harder to treat lines that are present at rest. Botox works by freezing the muscles that cause the lines so while it can improve the appearance of lines that are already there — you’ll get the best results if you primarily see them when you’re talking, laughing, making a face, etc.
I get Botox in my crow’s feet. I started at 35 when I noticed how TIRED I looked in pictures. Pre-COVID I went every 4-5 months. Works better and is way cheaper than any cream/serum/whatever. I might go next month and get my forehead too. I go to a medspa.
tacom, I have definitely aged this year. I had grays before but they are getting worse. I think its a combo of my age and 2020 being a total shit hole year.
How do you pick a place if you don't have local reccs?
Or does anyone live in the twin cities?
I'm theoretically morally opposed but it ends up I'm also vain.
I started with my Obgyn actually, so that made me feel comfortable. Then I found a med spa on the Brilliant Distinctions ( now Alle) page. She’s also a doctor which was important to me.
I go to my derm and get botox to my 11s and a bit above my eyebrows. I've done under my eyes to help with crows feet twice.
I started just before my 40th bday. I go about every 5 months as it seems to last that long. I have heard of even newer products that dysport and keep meaning to ask my derm about them.
Were you using brilliant distinctions for rewards with botox? Alle just took over, if you log into Brilliant distinctions it will make you convert your account to Alle. If you weren’t using BD, go sign up with Alle now, you get rewards for Botox that gives you money off next time

I’ve done both and prefer Botox. I think it freezes me slightly better. My provider said they’re pretty equivalent based on studies, so it’s more patient preference.
The only downside for me, is I need so much of it. If you’re an athlete, you’ll metabolize it faster. I only get about 8 weeks from my treatments. Seeing my natural forehead again during quarantine, made me certain I’ll always factor it into our budget, lol. I started after my 38th birthday, and I’ll be 40 in a couple months.

Interesting...I didn’t know about active people metabolizing faster! I have friends getting 4-5 months from it and wondered wtf is wrong with my face that I’m lucky to get 3 months.
I was just telling my mom this morning that I never understood Botox until I turned 35. This thread confirms that timeline is common. 😆
I have no good advice, but I have a dent in my forehead that I think is my RBF becoming permanent.
I’m 32 and I swear just this week I’m like “oh, I can see why people do this now.” My forehead lines aren’t terrible (but they’re suddenly noticeable to me) and I don’t have 11s really, but I can totally see myself doing this in a couple of years.
