Interesting...I didn’t know about active people metabolizing faster! I have friends getting 4-5 months from it and wondered wtf is wrong with my face that I’m lucky to get 3 months.
Yep, I had consultations with 2 different doctors who were both up front that I’d probably get about 6-8 weeks out of my treatments, based on their experience with endurance athletes. As a fitness instructor, I’m surprised they never mentioned it to you. It really is a factor.
Mine is mostly worn off by the 8 week mark, but I push it to 9-10 weeks between appointments. On the flip side, mine fully activates within 5-6 days, instead of the 10-14 they typically quote.
I am def going to ask about it metabolizing faster/slower based on activity. That is interesting! I don't think my peloton rides are enough to push me to an athlete range though LOL.

preppy I was thinking the same - I’m active but not exactly an endurance athlete lol. I wish I could remember if I noticed it wearing off faster when I was marathon training though.
I’ve done both and prefer Botox. I think it freezes me slightly better. My provider said they’re pretty equivalent based on studies, so it’s more patient preference.
The only downside for me, is I need so much of it. If you’re an athlete, you’ll metabolize it faster. I only get about 8 weeks from my treatments. Seeing my natural forehead again during quarantine, made me certain I’ll always factor it into our budget, lol. I started after my 38th birthday, and I’ll be 40 in a couple months.

How much of an athlete are you talking about?
Marathon, triathlon-type training load. I typically run about 60 miles a week, and cross train a few hours as well. High intensity exercise and lean body mass, typically mean those patients get much less time out of their Botox. She said she has some high mileage runners who only get about 6 weeks from their treatments.
I’ve been pregnant or nursing since 2013 and have at least a year or so to go, but I am DYING to try this! Every couple of months I google to see if things have changed and it’s allowed with breastfeeding. Alas, no.

Thanks! I lift about 5 days and walk daily, but no marathon training for me.
This thread is freaking me out. I’m 36 and the changes to my face are striking lately. It’s mostly that I feel like I’m getting jowls. What can I do for that?
Jowls are my problem, too! I hope someone can answer this.

Filler for cheeks
I haven’t done this yet, but I’ve done filler for eye bags in my upper cheeks. I think in a year or so, I’ll try it in the nasolabial folds to lift/plump up the lower part of my face.
Filler is expensive though. It lasts about a year but in my VHCOL city, I pay $1000 just for eye bags.

I did filler in my nasolabial folds and frown lines about a month ago. I’m very happy with it, especially in photos. Before and immediately after
I got it this morning and so far so good. I see more and more of a difference as the day goes along. I did 21 units total between my forehead and between the brows. It was pretty painless and the needle is super tiny.
Super random question when you get botox/Dysport, fillers etc. Do you go in with a clean face or do you wear makeup? Do it matter at all?
The area needs to be make-up free, but the office just gives me a wipe to remove it, if I come in already wearing it. Then of course the area is cleaned with an alcohol wipe right before the injections. As long as you don’t disturb the area with pressure, you can put make-up on again right afterwards, too.
Also, it’s recommend not using Retin-A/retinoids for 48 hrs prior or after.
