It only takes 4 to decide to take the case, right? You have a lot more faith in the Court than I do.
If they take the case with a totally uncontested election then they are basically nullifying the constitution and setting themselves up to decide every election. It wouldn’t be an election anymore it would just be oh hey let me ask the Supreme Court who is president.
I agree. And I think the writing is on the wall that this is the direction the Court has been headed for years and Coney Barrett’s confirmation is the nail in the constitution’s coffin.
Can someone please tell me to stop checking the polls for NC? Senate and president are a toss-up. I don't know why I think checking 538 constantly will help that situation.
I'm crossing my fingers that our governor wins reelection. I'm terrified of how much worse the covid situation will get under Dan Forest, who wants to repeal the mask mandate (let alone all the other chucklefuckery he would release).
I’m obsessing over NC too. I’d love to see one or both state leg chambers flip. I seriously could use a win right now and that would make my life so much better.
That would be amazing. I'm hoping that Madison Cawthorn is defeated. I cannot believe he is in contention at all, he's a garbage person and so unqualified in every way.
Is this week going realllllly slow for anyone else? I thought having a week where I am not super busy would be nice but now I have too much time to think.

Wait, really? I thought he was a shoe-in.
Sorry, that should say hoping. He's such trash and, yes, he's likely to win.
This article has tipped me to deciding Pennsylvania is going to be the state I obsess over until election day. Short answer- no he is not toast, but it lays out nicely how those results might be an indicator on how he will do in some other states.

I’m in PA and losing my mind how important this state is. Some points to make you (and me) a little more calm:
- there’s so much early voting everywhere - Philly has a HUGE get out the vote campaign and if Trump’s numbers stay the same from 2016 I think the city by itself has enough to compensate - we drove 2 hours outside the city to go hiking last weekend into farm country (they call it Pennsyltucky for a reason) and although the a Trump signs were bigger and more obnoxious, we saw about the same number of Biden signs. Do you know how many Hillary signs I saw out there in 2016? ZERO.
Now they’re going to pull some shit for sure that our votes aren’t valid or claim fraud (they’re taking videos and pictures of people voting in Philadelphia at city hall) but I have to believe we have the numbers.

Yes. I also feel like this limbo of having some hope and at the same time having no hope is a very weird, stressful emotional state to live in.
Would it help if we all paused using USPS for the week? Like paid attention to our online shopping and paused if USPS is used as the carrier?
I feel like that is something simple each person can do now that we are 7 days out.
My girlfriend works for USPS and asked her friends on social media to chill with the online purchases until after the election- she said they're absolutely slammed.

My understanding is that election mail is like the highest priority right now. So while I don’t think pausing purchases will help the election, I definitely think it will make mail carriers lives much easier for the next week or so.

I doubt it. I don't think vote by mail is putting that much of a strain on them. Not like the holiday season does.
This varies by region, but locally the strain is caused by understaffing (not intentional, there's just very high turnover) and high package volume. Carriers in my area are still out delivering at 8pm, which is typical of the holiday season but not this early. Your carrier will like you a lot more if you're not one to receive a lot of packages. But no, ballots aren't the problem.

I can’t find good and updated polling but this district is heavily red but the race is closer than it “should be”. Madison is horrible horrible horrible.

On a more positive note, these youth early voting numbers continue to look good.
Tweet text: NEW in Politico Nightly we have first look at latest cut of 18-29 yr olds early vote numbers in 14 states from @tuftsuniversity CIRCLE. In Texas, young people have already cast nearly two-thirds as many early votes as they did in all of 2016.
