I don’t have a link, but Warnock in GA is polling at 48%. I didn’t realize he was that close to the 50% required to avoid a runoff. Guess who is polling at 2%? Joe Lieberman’s son, also a Democrat.
I almost stroked out in rage when I saw that poll this morning.
But Texas is mostly in-person voting right? So many Texans have already voted so I’m curious what kind of legal challenge could be executed there.
Um, hi. I haven’t been here in years and really never went here, but 2020 and sky high anxiety and here I am.
If Texas goes blue it will be razor thin IMO and while the Texas Supreme Court allowed Harris County to continue with drive through voting they didn’t say it was legal. A few days ago that was 73,000 votes. It has the potential to swing a number of races. The Rs will challenge this without a doubt - because they’ve busted their asses the last 3 months trying to block all Chris Hollins’s other expanded voting access measures. And Ken Paxton, that crook, has already issued an opinion that it’s illegal.
Ugh, that would be so shady but just like them to try to throw those out. I'm afraid that Biden may have lost Texas by admitting that he wants to phase out fossil fuels. Which, it's totally the right thing to do, to move away from fossil fuels. However Gov Abbot and Lt Gov Patrick's facebook pages are just chock full of fearmongering about "he's going to ban oil, everyone is going to be unemployed!"
It looks to me that the polls are closing and Biden's lead is going away. Do you all think so too? I might be jaded from 2016. Plus Trump would likely win swing states Florida and MI etc.
Anyone feeling optimistic about Biden anymore?
Just do it.
I can remember having an awful sinking feeling in 2016 from around mid-October on that Trump was going to win. (I think there were only handful of us on the board). Around this time, I realized all I could do was work as hard as possible for a Hilary win and let go of the dread. Either he would win or lose. If he lost, the dread would have been useless. If he won, I'd have missed those last chances to feel optimistic.
So just get excited about the possibility. If he loses, you'll get to feel all the dread and anger you want next week.

I am in Harris County, too. I'm so nervous that the state will try to retroactively null the drive through votes but at this point I just have to hope it's too late and that Paxton has enough problems. I do think Hildalgo has learned a lot in dealing with the state in the last 7 months and I think her lawyers will make sure this is all iron clan legit. I go back and forth on what I think about Texas. On one hand I know more than few people that voted for Trump last time that didn't this time. Some just aren't voting at all but I'll take that, too. I definitely see way less Trump signs in my neighborhood than I did four years ago. Like way less. On the other hand I also see less Biden signs compared to HRC. So, I am very cautiously and guardedly optimistic. We will see. I voted today and it was very emotional.
ETA: never mind per tweet thread, its just that the RNC will take over paying for ads in Florida, instead of the campaign. still have to see the "SOCIALISM" in big red letters on all channels. blah
She's just The Handmaid to me. Even initials are too respectful.
Ha! Like I generally call Trump The Asshole. I would tend to use initials due to my inability to spell her (relatively easy) name. Is it an n like the island or an m like the FBI guy? One or two ts? Too many options..
He was sounding the alarm in 2016 about district level data and no one was listening.
He has described the district level data for the GOP and Trump as a bloodbath this year.
It’s a different situation. To me the risk is election tampering and potential court challenges, but I feel confident the votes are there for a clear win for Biden.

This is where I’m at. I just don’t see how it’s mathematically possible for trump to win with all of the new/young voters, disenchanted 2016 trump supporters, and those who voted 3rd party in 2016 that won’t make that mistake again.
Also no lie I am genuinely concerned about what happens between next week and January 20th even with a decisive win. All these people are crazy and criminal and that’s just the people who work for him directly.
President Donald Trump repeatedly attacked Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, a Democrat, during his rally in Lansing, Michigan, on Tuesday, at one point taking credit for the FBI thwarting a plot to kidnap her and then immediately downplaying the actual threat that had been posed to Whitmer.
"Your governor, I don't thinks she likes me too much," Trump joked, prompting a loud reaction from the crowd.
"Hey, hey, hey hey," he told the audience, "I'm the one, it was our people that helped her out with her problem."
"I mean, we'll have to see if it's a problem. Right? People are entitled to say maybe it was a problem, maybe it wasn't," he added. "It was our people -- my people, our people that helped her out. And then she blamed me for it. She blamed me and it was our people that helped her. I don't get it. How did you put her there?"
Trump has repeatedly attacked Whitmer before and after the news of the plot. Whitmer wrote in the Atlantic on Tuesday that every time he does so, threats surge.
"Every time the president ramps up this violent rhetoric, every time he fires up Twitter to launch another broadside against me, my family and I see a surge of vicious attacks sent our way," she wrote. "This is no coincidence, and the President knows it. He is sowing division and putting leaders, especially women leaders, at risk. And all because he thinks it will help his reelection."

I can't call him The Asshole but I have managed to teach Civics to middle schoolers for this entire administration without ever calling him "President Lastname." I won't do it. I call him Trump, the president, or 45.
I do this too. It’s my own little middle finger to him.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
I am protecting my mental health by telling myself Trump is going to win. If he does, I will have prepared for it. If Biden wins, I’ll be pleasantly surprised. I don’t know what else to do to stop myself from melting down. I had therapy last week and it was basically all I talked about. I was like “please tell me I’m not the only one of your clients that’s done this” and she assured me that most of her clients are in the same boat as me.
100% here. I am doing the exact same thing. Preparing myself for the Trump win, and the fight that is going to occur even if he doesn't win.
It’s truly terrifying to me that there are that many people voting for Trump and what he stands for.
Yes, this. I have felt this way for four long years. I can't believe anyone ever took him seriously in the first place, and now I can't believe people are willing to throw away relationships, careers, sometimes even their LIVES to support him.
I’m excited, fired up, pissed off, terrified, and depressed all at the same time.
I am every bit as likely to scream “FUCK YEAH WE GOT THIS” as I am to put my face in my hands and sob.
I need it to be next week.
Same. I'm also glad to be working at the election commission because it keeps me super busy and away from my phone/computer so I can't obsessively read news and FB between now and election day
