TWERK: Beau is going to have to shut down the restaurant and hope that they can come back in the spring with warmer weather. There's just no indoor dining business to be had - people aren't showing up to eat inside and now that the temps have dropped, there's no way they can sustain being open when they lose the outdoor option. They barely broke even for October and it's just going to get worse as the winter starts. Thankfully their landlord has agreed to be flexible over the next few months given the circumstances. He's heartbroken. This place had been his dream for years and they finally made it happen. The people who do go and eat outside love it and rave about it on social media. But it's just not sustainable with COVID right now. Now he has to look for a job to bring in some income that can be flexible with his schedule since his son is on 100% remote learning.
TWERK: PTA is now up to including NINE fundraisers in their emails. NINE DIFFERENT FUNDRAISERS.
NINE.
That's INSANE!
We are back full time in person and only planning on one fundraiser for the whole year. Usually we do a big fun run/obstacle course event but can't do it this year. So we put together a raffle calendar instead. We have other events throughout the year typically, but don't consider those "fundraisers." They're barely break even events that are just fun. And we can't even do those this year.
The main reason we're still doing fundraising is because the PTA is funding all class celebrations/activities this year. Usually that stuff would be mainly handled by parent donations to the class itself and the room parents, but we can't have people bringing all kinds of stuff into the building this year. So PTA is putting together whatever the classes need in individual baggies.

Omg 😳
We have 5 and the principal sent an email today that 4th and 5th graders can participate in a Zoom play... for $125 each.
Um.
I appreciate that we are in school in person full time, and we’ve already made a decent donation this year because the big fund raiser (that usually brings in $150k) was canceled. But $125 to participate in a zoom play that will be done next month? Stop. It.

I am running the school's virtual 5k/1k and it's normally our largest fundraiser. We're on track to raise less than half of what we raised last year. I feel really bad. I think we might do a readathon in the spring to try to make up for it.
