I’m very nervous that the Supreme Court is going to hand Trump a victory. He’s tweet-screaming about SCOTUS.
I really can’t believe that Justice Ginsburg died when she did. Crazy how Trump keeps falling ass-backward into opportunities. He’s the embodiment of white privilege.
Is anyone in MN? I'm wondering if this is all over the local news, for example.
Yes. Its the lead story on the local news site I frequent. I didn't watch the local TV news last night however.
H and I sent our ballots in weeks ago, and I confirmed they were received and counted. My parents plan to vote in person Tuesday.
I choose to stay off FB, but I plan on posting about this.
Also, I really can't wrap my head around the logic that mail in or absentee voters are 100% democrat and that this also doesn't hurt GOP in some way. I know, I know there are clear statistics on this.
This MN situation is rage-inducing. The GOP sees this as a win since they've been eyeing MN as a state to flip given how close it was in 2016.
There needs to be a major push for anyone who can spoil their ballots to do so and vote in person. But, that's all well and good if you're in MN right now. If you are actually absent from the state? Your vote will not count if you haven't mailed it already and it could be enough for Trump to flip the state.
I read something yesterday that calmed my nerves ... Clinton won 9 MN counties in 2016 (there are 87 total). She would've still won MN if she'd only won Hennepin and Ramsey Counties (Minneapolis/St. Paul).

I’m very concerned about military members stationed outside of MN who are voting absentee. The point of absentee voting is that you can’t just take it to a drop box or spoil your ballot by going in person. There are many voters who have no other choice than to mail their ballot, and now they are being disenfranchised by an eleventh-hour rule change.

@@@@@i live in a very blue neighborhood in a very blue city. The other day Trump supporters were holding signs on a busy corner in our neighborhood. Some 9th grade kids walking by (some that I've known since they went to elementary school with DD) had words with the protesters and tried to grab the signs. Ended with one teen getting kicked into the busy street, another being pushed to the ground and having his pants pulled almost off, and another being body slammed.
The man who kicked the teen into the street? He's running against Pramila Jayapal.

Did you read the MPR article on how MN politics have shifted? It is fascinating (and sad). But it’s really well done.

Yeah, that's what I took the above nugget from.
I've thought for a while that we're likely to turn red some day, but I can also see us going the way if Illinois, where we're blue only because of the twin cities area.

Minnesota people - can people track their ballot online to see if it's been received? I can't imagine having to sit and worry about it getting there on time when I followed the instructions sent to me.

I'm just bracing for the inevitability that 45's going to declare victory by about 10 pm on election night. He'll declare it, all the republicans will ALSO declare it, Fox will declare it, and from there on, any shift towards Biden (regardless of ACTUAL ballot counts) will be framed as "stealing the election." The longer the counts take in states, the more doubt will be placed on the legitimacy of those ballots/counting.
THAT is what makes me afraid. That Biden will clearly win (even the EC), and they'll just flat out not accept it. Not just the rabid cult members, but the entire GOP. Biden taking office will be framed as the "stolen presidency," and unless we take the senate and house, they'll legit just block every.fucking.thing.
This has become an obsessive thought for me. Like, I can’t stop worrying about it.
Yes I am pissed. I never expected MN to change the rules so close to Election Day. I checked in with several friends last night and one mailed hers on Wednesday so she’s nervous it won’t be received in time.
Make sure she knows she can either spoil her mail in ballot and go vote early in person, or she can spoil her mail-in ballot and vote in person in election day.
Thanks for saying this. I just posted on my FB page to remind my local MN friends that they can do this of they recently mailed their absentee ballot in!
ETA: I've tried to go early vote in person twice this week (at the Roseville public library) and this morning right when they opened the line was even longer than yesterday at lunchtime. I didn't have the time to wait with a meeting at 11, but my anxiety is ramping up that I'll somehow get COVID over the weekend and not be able to vote in my polling place on Tuesday.
lol now Tucker Carlson is saying we should leave Hunter alone. I am SO curious what is up with this story. TC says he has damaging papers, but they got lost. Ok, that makes me assume he didn't have anything and just wants to create buzz. But wait! UPS says, "Oh yeah, we lost them, but now we found them!" and now TC says, "Nah, we should leave Hunter alone." Did UPS call his bluff? Are there really no documents and UPS was like, "How do you like this you little jerk?" But he never named UPS, they volunteered themselves as the carrier so...I don't know. But I'm so intrigued.
*Adjusts tin foil hat*
Tucker sent something so that there was a tracking number/receipts for his October surprise.
Tucker says they were lost.
UPS, FED EX, etc start to look into if they had any packages from Tucker/Fox accounts
Find that they did and checked security cameras and find some worker (who happens to have a Q sticker on his F150) and $100 check signed by Carlson who opened the package and took out the 2020 Sears Catalog. *
The major shipping companies heard about this allegation and wanted nothing to do with it, did their due diligence and the documents that were never supposed to be found were. Now Carlson needs to take the heat off himself.
My theory is simpler than this. Tucker was supposed to get the same crap the Wall Street Journal. What Giuliani sent. He was told "evidence was on it's way."
Then between the sending and delivery from the mailroom to Tucker, all the problems with it became public. So no one bothered to give it to him.
Tucker looks at the facts: He knew he was supposed to get "evidence." He never received a package so he doesn't have to admit that the evidence was crap. He can spin this! His amazing evidence was stolen! He never operates in good faith so the truth doesn't matter. He's got enough "facts" to back him up. What a great segment!
Then the delivery companies come back and say "WTF? found your package in your mailroom!" And suddenly he can't pretend the contents aren't crap anymore.

I honestly don’t care if Trump declares himself the winner and then days later, when all the votes are counted it’s officially Biden. Even if they refer to Biden’s presidency as a stolen one, WHO CARES AS LONG AS TRUMP IS GONE. Trump declares stupid shit all the time. His supporters are already saying the only way Biden wins is if he cheats. 🙄 They’re never going to believe Biden won fair and square.
I also look forward to the day when I no longer have to see Trump2020 commented on every.single. news article. It could literally be an article about a turtle in the ocean and someone will comment “Trump2020!” I can’t even imagine being so much of an idiot that I needed to constantly declare my allegiance to something like that.

ALL over.
There have definitely been times in my life when I wouldn't have paid any attention to the news. I would have mailed with a cushion and not thought twice. I don't know if I've changed (well, I know I have), or that the GOP is just so bold about suppression that I know I wouldn't rest until I obsessively checked online to make sure my vote was counted.

I’m here. GWB stole one. We’re owed it.
What pathetic losers that base their whole identity, online and in-person, around a rapist, fascist, narcissist, racist idiot. I can’t wait to float on a big blue inner tube in their tears.

Yeah, there is literally no election result scenario where they don’t start screaming about a stolen election and promptly start planning any and every way to stonewall the Dems future agenda. That was always going to happen regardless, so I feel it’s not worth stressing over. As long as he loses and then actually leaves, IDGAF anymore.
I know we've talked a lot about legal fights and expected slow vote counts in Pennsylvania. What do the logistics look like in Georgia?
From Florida, we can slide our gaze north of the St. Mary’s River to look at Georgia, where we’ve actually seen a more sizable shift in Biden’s direction over the past few days. Biden now has a 57 in 100 chance of winning Georgia, up from 46 in 100 on Monday. This is important because Georgia is a state that Trump absolutely must win to have any chance of victory — in fact, he wins in less than 1 percent of the scenarios in which Biden carries it.
WELL since you asked, several polling places in the Atlanta area were out of commission yesterday due to massive power outages from Hurricane Zeta and Governor Derpy Kemp has yet to respond whether he will extend early voting to 9 pm tonight to compensate for some of the lost time. (As of 7 am at least)
Using the words "punish and outlaw" in reference to planning for your own citizens is...something.
I was wondering yesterday as I drove past all the fucking Trump flags if people will take them down after he loses. I'm betting no, but I can't understand that kind of cult behavior, so I can't understand why.

While I can understand some doom and gloom around things that are happening right now, I think we all need to take a deep breath.
To loosely quote Elizabeth Warren, we are fighting hard to win big. People are doing amazing things to get out the vote and fight voter suppression. Record numbers of people are voting. Yes, the GOP are doing all kinds of last ditch efforts to do awful things, but the things we are doing are far greater. I'm seeing all kinds of hopeful signs that things will be okay.
Like I said yesterday - and I think it bears repeating - we are not optimistic, we are determined.

""The Democrats have just decided this election, Mark, we don't have to pay attention to any laws. We're gonna use COVID as an excuse to steal the election, and that's what they're trying to do everywhere,” Patrick, a Republican, said during a radio interview on “The Mark Davis Show.” “If the president loses Pennsylvania or North Carolina, Mark, or Florida, they'll lose it because they stole it.”"
"A spokesman for his office clarified after the interview that Patrick was referring to “reports of ballot irregularities” and “other potential fraud” being seen in Pennsylvania and other battleground states."

Dan Patrick is a fucking moron. I cannot stand him. I don’t think too many in TX take him seriously though.
Trump declares himself the winner around 10pm, Nov 3.
Republican responses from politicians range from "Yay, Lord Trump! Congratulations!" to "I'm very concerned."
Responses from thousands of town clerks and all media except right wing media are, "Trump said he won, but, not so fast. That's not how this works" I really do think the mainstream media learned a lesson about how to cover Trump. You make sure you clarify he said X, not that X is true.
Biden/Harris and the democratic machine utilize their plans and respond accordingly.
After a few days, it becomes clear that Trump has lost and the media BLASTS that information because it's a shiny new headline.
Trump blusters about lawsuits, but if you want to feel better about that, read some of this Ask Me Anything: https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/comments/jjsvwf/we_are_constitutional_lawyers_one_of_us_counsel/
Republican politicians see the writing on the wall. I don't see them denouncing Trump as the antichrist, but for most, the storyline will become, "Trump? I hardly knew the guy."
All but the most MAGAty MAGAts shift their focus from "Trump is my God!" to "Joe Biden is terrible because he believes in public health measures." It's the same refrain we saw with Obama except now the enemy is "socialism" rather than a black man in the White House.
A competent FBI and Justice System can keep the worst elements of society at bay as much as they have in the past- not perfect, but pretty well.

Yes, I’m trying to lean into this. On Majority 54 yesterday, Jason Kander said that one of the most important things he learned in therapy was to feel what you’re feeling.
So if you feel hopeful and excited, don’t let the polls keep you from living that and using it to help fuel the next few days.
He specifically talked about the day he lost his last his election. He said something about how it was a great day with a lot of positivity and excitement. It didn’t end how he wanted, but he got to have those really positive moments to hold on to when he looks back on the day instead of stress and failure.
Stay determined and focused, but stay in the moment too.
As an extra note, Majority 54 did a bonus ep this week with Chris Taylor and it was fantastic. Chris is a psy ops vet that ran for, I think, the House and was republican but is voting for Biden. He also struggles with ptsd and addiction. I really enjoyed listening to his story and thought the ep was really well done. Highly recommend.

Did you see the guy in Woodinville (Trump supporter) who pulled a gun on the counter protestors? I think it was also some teenagers and apparently someone threw some liquid on the guy but news reports said it wasn’t the teens that care out to counter protest.
I had not seen that. Unbelievable. Or actually, not really.

Yes. Thank you. It’s a little apocolyptic in here right now. There are moments when I feel despair too but there are also quite a few hopeful signposts. Sometimes I wonder if many of you are doing too much doom scrolling on twitter? I’ve limited my media right now to 538, Wasserman, cnn, WaPo, and PSA and I feel okay. I mean I certainly don’t feel as if this is a done deal for trump at this point.
no coincidence that every person that's been a jerk on the phone with me (phone banking) has been a republican. And the ones that have been jerks via text banking are typically white male republicans.
