Anyone want to play "what I'm drinking tonight/this weekend?"
Inspired by Susie 's daycare thread, with winter coming up, I've been a ball of stress about what daycare/schools/the ability to see anyone outside of our household will look like. That combined with Tuesday coming up is making for so much anxiety.
DH and I are making brandy old-fashioned sours when he gets home tonight. Our favorite brewery in town is releasing a bourbon barrel-aged candy bar porter tomorrow so we might do curb-side pickup of some tomorrow.
I have so much election anxiety that I pretty much plan to be buzzed from now until Wednesday (which I took as a vacation day). I have a bunch of nice IPAs, a few stouts, and a boatload of red wine.
I opened a bottle of shiraz last night because fuck it. So I'll drink the rest of that. Probably all tonight. Lol.
It snowed this morning, of course. DD outgrew her snow boots from last year and DS doesn't have snow pants. I was hoping to wait for sales, but we've gotten like 64 emails from DD's school that they need the full suite of winter gear because they will go outside down to 10 degrees, and can't borrow anything. I get it, wtf else do you do with kids stuck in place in their classroom for social distancing, but damn I wasn't prepared to make snow gear all materialize in October!
I also have major Tuesday anxiety. I thought I'd feel better after I voted, but now I'm in the thumbs-twiddling phase. Ugh.
So yes, drink up! And cheers to all of us continuing to put one foot in front of the other.

ETA: that porter sounds amazing, want!
We'll cheers to you with it! Too bad beer exchanges weren't easier

I did just find out my sister (in WI) couldn't get an absentee ballot and is planning to visit my mom over the election so she won't be able to vote in person. I had to scramble to find her early voting location (that was only open for an hour today) and kick her butt to get there. At least it made me feel like I was doing *something* since my vote's been in for a few weeks.

I have an open bottle of red blend that I SHOULD probably finish because it was opened last Sunday, but we're carving pumpkins tonight and beer sounds better right now.
I think I only have summery beers in my fridge right now so I might stop at the store on the way to pickup the boys for something fallish so I have options.
I don't think I'm in the mood for hard liquor or hard seltzers, but I could be convinced of those too.

I almost never drink whiskey but I wouldn't mind a mixed whiskey drink. I don't even know which one. Maybe a manhatten? That's more of something I'd normally enjoy out though and....we're not going out.

I have a bottle of Prosecco hanging out in my fridge right now. I caught myself thinking, “Oh I can open it next week when Biden wins.” So now I’m opening it tonight because I did the same thing in 2016 and we all saw how that turned out. I think I’ll make Aperol spritzes, it’s pretty warm here today.
If you need me on Tuesday I'll be drunk googling "how to build an ice wall along the 49th parallel". Only 507 days until my H can apply for citizenship!

I typically only had cocktails out but have learned a few to make at home this year. Some places here are doing them to-go but I can't bring myself to pay $15 a drink for that. At least mules are easy. We've been doing them with gin which I love.
White wine! Prosecco for tomorrow’s at home Halloween celebration. Between the trauma of selling our house and building a new one, and anxiety over the election, I need it!
I am currently drinking white wine while I assemble Halloween goodie bags. Trick or treating is a go here; I’m planning to put a coffee table out on the porch and lay these out on it so kids can help themselves vs. digging into a bowl.
Canned margarita (Cutwater spirits) that are oddly delicious over shaved ice. I will move to octoberfest beer on Halloween and red wine for the days after.
I had a Kolsch and a black IPA from our local brewery after work. I also had a Stella hard cider spritzer. I bought them yesterday b/c I had been craving a hard cider for some reason. It's good, but at 3.5% alcohol it does nothing for me lol. I guess that's why it's low cal though.
Tomorrow is PSU vs Ohio State and I'm going to a "tailgate" in a friend's yard before the game, and then we'll all just go home to watch it. I have a variety of fall beers left so will probably have a few of those. New Trail pumpkin ale, Dogfish head pumpkin, and Schafly pumpkin are what I have left, I think. Need to make way for the winter beers!
Same here! I love the new pineapple flavor, tho I've heard others say they can't stand it. I'm planning on filling my Yeti tumbler and taking it with me to ToT.
I usually have spiked hot cider after/during TOT. We can't do our usual post-trick-or-treat party dinners this year, though. I might just have one on my own later.
I want to see if I can find caramel vodka today. I like it better than spiced rum in the cider, but they were sold out when I went to the store last week.
