I think I had it at noon. My credit card went through...and got rejected because I didn't realize Autocorrect changed my first name when I made the account last night. I may have cursed loud enough to scare the dog.
lol I'm sorry. But that part made me laugh. I have definitely done that.
I actually received a confirmation email from Costco. We'll see what happens. If it goes through, at least my Christmas shopping for DH and even the kids to a small extent is done.

Well, I managed to get it in to two different Walmart accounts for the 3pm release but couldn't get the site to process to checkout, it kept crashing. This is the most excitement I've had in weeks LOL
Do you all think this online only is going to be the approach for all future shipments too or do you think from here forward they will just pop into the stores on occasion?
ETA: Awww, my husband almost had one. He got all the way through the payment and address verification page and hit confirm and it was gone.

This just happened to me also. Frankly I was debating getting it and selling it at a profit to afford Christmas lol (just kidding...kind of).

Also I feel like covid times has addled my mind. Spending $500 for a game console and then I need to spend $70 on another controller and then at least $150 on two games so they have stuff to play. We have like a 15year old 32” television. It probably won’t even work on that. I have seriously freaking lost it.
We managed to pre-order a bundle in September but received an email that due to manufacturer shortages it would be delayed until January 2021. Yesterday I got a shipping confirmation for partial shipment but no details about what items shipped. FedEx delivered everything except for the game that isn't released until next month.

We had three people each on two devices for each release (12/3/6/9), got them in our cart every time but then Walmart’s servers would freeze up and they’d be out of stock before we could get through checkout (had addresses, cc info, everything in there).

I debated sharing with you all because I don't want the competition LOL but if you have a PSN ID, Playstation is releasing more for sale today, though they don't say what time.
This is likely a dumb comment, and I also know nothing about gaming systems, but why are they releasing so few? Obviously people want them and will buy them.

Supply and demand? lol
Reports say they are dropping 11 million units this fiscal year so perhaps they just can't make any more.

This is kind of a hallmark of gaming systems, especially PlayStation.
I’m guessing they genuinely had supply chain issues with this one, plus increased demand since lots of people are home more right now. I did a quick google and it looks like there’s a specific chip in PS5s that is the hold up in the supply chain.
Im sure there are economical reasons as well - I imagine the investment into next gen systems by companies is $$$$$$ and you may have a Sega Dreamcast scenario on your hands where no one really wants your stuff. Also, PS5 doesn’t have a lot of unique and exclusive content right now - game makers have to pivot to program for the new system.
Anyway, there are reasons, but most of the time, I’m like COME OOOON. GIMMEEEEE.

Also, PlayStation tends to do this thing where it releases the system with alllll the bells and whistles for $$$$$$$ first, then a year or two later releases the same system with tweaked functionality and fewer bells and whistles for $$$$ and that’s usually when supply starts to catch up with demand because people who don’t need the hoss system pick up the cheaper one and the people who have been waiting for the big boy system get theirs.
ETA: I think I might have gotten one. I got an order number and the charge is showing as pending on my credit card, but until I get the actual confirmation email I'm not going to believe it.

Oh man wish I had seen this. Trying to get one of these is crazy!

We've been trying for the Xbox. Had the same issue as everyone else at Walmart - was able to get it in my cart right when they became available, but then couldn't checkout.

Doesn’t the first one often have bugs that need working out?

Anymore, I think those tend to be figured out with software updates. I was thinking more like the PS3 first gen where it was totally backwards compatible. Subsequent PS3 releases were not and were cheaper. PS4 had its first gen release that was a honking machine, then the secondary release that was the “lite” version.
